The Ford GT40's successor that you've never heard of

The #Ford F3L is the GT40 successor you didn’t know about. Only 3 were ever made and they had the incredible 3.0-litre Ford-Cosworth DFV V8. We were lucky enough to have one fly up the #FOS Hill - at the hands of Richard Attwood no less.

The moment when you see a car that you’ve never seen or heard before and just fall in love with it 😃

Never heard of it, and I’m glad y’all showed it to us! What a beautiful looking and sounding machine! Much love from Texas!

the GT40 is one of the most beautiful cars- all-time. Despite the fact that I only discovered the F3L a few months ago, it proves that they did it again. the F3L is just as stunning as the GT40, except in an almost italian way.

I had a model of this car - in these colours - when I was a kid. Love all the curves in the bodywork, and that DFV has a lovely sound.

The back reminds me of a the Lola’s from that era or a bit of the Porsche 908 but the front seems pretty unique maybe just a little bit like the Daihatsu P5 and the Toyota and Nissan Prototyes.

Looks amazing that Ford!

I raced HO scale slot cars in the 60s and early 70s. You could buy a clear plastic copy of this car, and I had one.

I don't understand the caption '....the car you've never heard of'. Maybe, if you are under 40 but I remember this, IMHO, the most beautiful sports racing car (after Ferraris P4) that ever existed. I stood at the picket fence at Brands Hatch when it debuted. Sheer automotive beauty that was the Alan Mann Ford 3 litre. There was a saying then that 'if it looked right, it was right', and that phrase never applied more than with this yes, I too made several slot racers of it.

I saw this race, in Alan Mann colours, in the Tourist Trophy at Oulton Park in 1968. It broke down on lap 10 (out of 100) with a broken gearbox or diff. Its problem was that it was too fragile for sports car racing.
