When I saw photographs of Western NC, I shouted, "OMG it's Katrina!"
My family fled our Katrina-flattened town, Bay St Louis, MS after 8 days of NO FEMA or Red Cross. 1000s of us would've died without our NG or locals chain saw and front end loaders to clear roads. Only communication was our Ham radio operators!
And we ended up in Sylva, then Whittier, NC for 9 months.
Our hearts are broken for our NC neighbors.
And we are outraged that 4 days out, where the h**l are the Emergency Operations?
State, federal???
