Canadians with low income upset over Trudeau's holiday tax breaks

The Trudeau Liberals are touting their recent tax breaks set to roll out ahead of the holiday season. People who made less than $150,000 last year will receive a bonus cheque for $250 in the mail.

There is also a "holiday" tax break on some grocery items, beer and wine, and christmas trees. But seniors who earned little to no income, and people who are unable to work, are not included, despite being among those greatest in need.

Touria Izri reports.

I'm a working Canadian, I don't want this rebate that will add to the deficit.. I want a responsible government that will balance the

What does someone who made $145, 000.00 need $250 ? Ridiculous.

Oh wow you get a tax free on beer, wine, Christmas trees and snacks. What the heck the only people that can afford this are people that are not living on the edge.

It's sad that foreigners\immigrants get treated better than Canadians.

I'm disabled and live thousands of dollars below the poverty level. Disability isn't enough to live on, and that $250 cheque I'm not getting could have really made my Christmas. I'm not a conservative, but I'm really starting to loathe this man. Nothing he does makes sense.

I’m a senior and have no plans of buying a Christmas tree. I don’t eat potato chips either. Why am I not receiving a cheque?

Seniors on pension won't get the cheque either!!!
Disgusting.

Why are Canadians now suddenly vastly outnumbered in overcrowded Canadian cities?
Shouldn’t Canadian homes be owned and occupied by Canadians?

Why is beer and wine exempt? We shouldNOT encourage that. And for the others who didn’t meet income or made money what about for the people who are physically unable to work because of disability

Senseless, bizarre & utterly pathetic. Even rich people are scratching their heads at this one.

Great... no money for this senior who has worked her whole life, does not drink so no break on prices, and also not getting a tree again since I live alone and just decorate simply with other Christmas decorations I have.

Every decision he makes is so STUPID! In this economic climate, people making $149000 NEED $250 and a discount on beer and wine?More than a senior on a fixed income? Does True Dope think grandma has no bills to pay at Christmas? In most families it's grandma who is making the Christmas dinner!!!

How kind of Trudeau to offer a temporary tax break and a $250.00 bonus cheque for the Christmas holidays. Remember last year when the good Prime Minister spent $230, 442.00 of taxpayer on his Christmas vacation? How about the year before last when he spent $162, 000.00 of taxpayer money for his Christmas vacation? Oh and don't forget his private island vacation to the Bahamas costing taxpayers $271, 000.00. How about his Tofino trip the cost taxpayers $287, 285.00. A total of $950, 727.00 for his luxury getaways compliments of the Canadian taxpayers. All the while collecting a salary of $406, 200.00 this year and $$379, 000 in 2023 and $379, 000.00 in 2022 from Canadian taxpayers for a total cost of $1, 164, 200.00. In return, (some) Canadians get a little tax break and a $250.00 cheque to help with their Christmas holidays in 2024. Only those with disabilities and those who made less than $150, 000.00, not senior citizens or people on social assistance or the homless people or the people who didn't work in 2024 like the185, 000 Canadians who lost their jobs due to Trudeau's carbon tax. You know, the people who need it most. Something else to bare in mind is that the Trudeau family collected $425, 000.00 from his WE charity scandle. One last thing and I will shut up, Trudeau's net worth in 2019 was 10 million after he was re-elected, in 2024 his net worth is 97 million, that's quite an increase since his 2nd term as Prime Minister. Anyone else see the problem here???

The tax thing is completely meaningless. You're gonna save pennies on overpriced Justinflation goods. And if the price of a product goes up by 50 cents, then it's like you didn't save anything.

This is insane! Will be taking my $250 and sending it to the Conservatives, so they can AXE the (carbon) TAX permanently!
