Visit Peru Travel Guide | Best things to do in Perú:

So we're off the train and this marks the start of the Inca Trail.

So I guess we should explain that we aren't doing the traditional Inca trail. Normally you can do a four day walk or a 10 day walk. We're actually only doing a two day walk. We're not really lazy it is just kind of how it happened. Come on we are. Maybe, maybe just a little bit. We crave our comfort. So basically we're going to be hiking for a full day and then we're going to get to our Aguas Calientes and stay in a hotel. We're not staying in tents. And then the following day we'll be touring Machu Picchu with a guide and like learning the history of the place. So I guess really it is only one day walking the Inca Trail but we're going to say two to feel a little better about ourselves.

So within five minutes of walking we've already reached our first Inca site.

Machu Picchu! Machu Picchu! We made it. How are you feeling? I know. After that long hike. It is amazing. And we're so lucky to have views like this because apparently it was raining for three days before we did this hike. I know. And we have sunshine and blue skies and the lost city is waiting for us. Just over there.

Going for the Llama selfie.

We're going to be trying some traditional food from Cusco.

So we are taking a really fun overnight trip from Puno today to visit Lake Titicaca. Yeah, we're going to visit several islands and do a homestay overnight. Yeah, and we'll get to meet the different communities that live here because we have Aymara people and Quechua people.

Many travelers to Peru tend to skip over Lima as they rush off to more scenic destinations, but we’re of the opinion that the capital has a lot to offer. As one of the largest cities in South America, Lima can be a little chaotic and crowded, but it is also full of surprises, especially in terms of culinary experiences and historic attractions. In this travel video guide, we’re going to take you on a tour of the city and show you 30 things to do in Lima, Peru. Now let’s get started!

After spending some time in Lima, we flew into Iquitos for the final leg of our Peruvian adventure. The landscape changed from arid deserts to mountains and finally to jungle as our flight crossed the country, and once we arrived, the first thing we did was hop into a tuk-tuk to take us into the city.

So we have made it to Iquitos.

Hello from the shores of the Amazon river. This is a pretty cool place to be wouldn't you say? Yeah, this is a bucketlist item for us definitely. So we are currently cruising down the Amazon with Rainforest Cruises. We're going to be spending four days and three nights aboard the Delfin number one.

This is part of our Travel in Peru video series showcasing Peruvian food, Peruvian culture and Peruvian cuisine.

A few months after I got back from Machu Picchu in '06 my younger brother asked me why? Why did I go to Peru & Machu Picchu? Non-travellers don't get it. Yeah why? Why would I visit one of the wonders of the world, experience a new culture, expand my horizons, think about the world in new ways, meet people from different cultures, let go of stereotypes? Yeah why would I do that. I didn't give him that answer though. He wouldn't have got it. I think I just said why not & left it at that.

Hey, Thank you so much you both for taking the time to share your travels. My partner and I are planning a trip from Colombia down to Peru. Given the span of our trajectory, we will be under a budget but we'd like to have an idea on how much to save. We loved a lot of the stops you made, specifically the boat 3 day boat accommodations shown on your travels down the Amazon river. Any insight on how long your trip was and what you'd recommend as far as saving for a budget would be helpful but if you rather not share that stuff that's okay too! Either way, Thanks so much again for this video! Well done you both!!

Hello! Thank you for posting all these videos! I imagine it's a lot of work but it's so nicely edited and you both have a nice/ positive way to describe things :-) I'm thrilled because we are visiting Perú in July and I'd like to ask few questions...

I believe we are much food lovers as you both are. I think I even posted a question on an older video from Buenos Aires. Some restaurant near Congreso. I didn't get to visit near the area, but I found a couple of nice Peruvian fusion restaurants in Recoleta :-) . Anyway, my question is regarding food and water, because all these months I've been dreaming g about all the tasty food, but I got warned by the md., that I should be extremely careful and avoid food poisoning. That means not eating salads, or buying street food. What about your yummy cremoladas from Miraflores ;-)
I don't know if it's overreacting. But it does feel disappointing not to be able to enjoy without worrying! What about ceviche? Or drinking fresh papaya juice, etc... do you have any comments/ advice. It goes for the water too, specially in Cuzco, I have been told. Certainly it wouldn't be fun having food poisoning while going on the Inca trail :-o haha. Thanks in advance, your reply will be much appreciated!
