Machu Picchu with Spirit Tours. Mom was from Peru. Visited several times with mom in my youth. Mostly Miraflores, but also Barranco, Callao. Never made it to Machu Picchu. Very excited!

I find wearing bulky items agreeable. I often just wear what's make me feel comfy but wearing those during the flight would indeed give more space.

at 1:22 in she said the altitude of Lima was 1550 meters above sea level, , Lima is on the Pacific ocean, , that's zero in altitude and the inter city rises to a max of 528 feet

Ok I was so confused at one part, I didn't know if you said "I'll pack a sweater, " or "alpaca sweater" lol but seriously I have a alpaca lined hoodie and it is the warmest thing I have ever worn in my life :)

I'm going to Peru in July with Overseas Adventure Travel. It'll be my 3rd trip with them and my first experience south of the equator. I'm going to start in the Amazon rainforest, but I will NOT attempt to go for 18 days using just a carry-on - MAYBE if I was going to be staying in the US, I guess I'm too stuck in my ways to try or worried I'll have to buy too much stuff when I'm there. Last year, when I booked the trip I was also looking at Inca trail treks...it seems there aren't any for old fogies like me (just shy of 62). They tend to limit tours to people about 1/2 my age. A bit disappointing, to be honest. I think I'm adventurous enough to have enjoyed such a trip.
