So basically, if you don't care about raytracing (which the 2060 can barely handle)
Best price to performance:



Entry level, 1080p 60 = Rx 570/580
Competetive. 1080p 144hz = Rx 5700
Midrange, 1440p 60 = Rx 5700
High end, 1440p 144hz = Rx 5700xt (if you don't really care about high vs ultra settings, otherwise RTX 2080)
Enthousiast, 4k 60+, Rtx 2080ti

I have a sapphire nitro+ radeon rx vega 64 and it's a beast, over a foot long and 2 inch's thick but it still works beautifully.

If someone is deciding between RTX 2060 Super and RX 5700, rest assured to go with the RX 5700 as it literally provides the same performance for $50 less, and subsequent driver updates and OC unlocks will only make it more powerful, not to mention the recent advancement to DirectX 12 and Vulkan API, which both works best on AMD GPUs, buy the RTX card only if you want ray tracing or those Cuda cores for deep learning projects...

On one thing i disagree, an rtx 2080 is a SPOT on choice for 144hz-165hz 1440p. It has exactly the right juice for it as everything lower than 2080 will not provide you 144hz on ultra in modern tripple A games.

The AMD 5700 for £100 less than the 2070 look good but I'm still an Nvidia fan for now.

Awesome video. Although I would say that I have a reference vega 56, which is a little less powerful than the 5700, but play at 1440p all the time and easily get between 70-120+ fps depending on the game. Therefore, I would classify the 5700 as more than just 60fps 1440p gaming ✊

You say not to get an rtx 2080 if you have a 1440p monitor. Thats quite misguided. There are high refresh 1440p monitors that would be able to take advantage of that performance handily especially if you like to play games that aren't triple a or are more performance intensive than Fortnite. I have a titan x pascal which performs about on par to a rtx 2080 and I have used a 1440p 144hz monitor for years. Sure esport titles are going to run way over 144hz but most modern titles run around 70-120 fps. Honestly if you wanted 1440p with hdr at 144hz on all games I'd go with a 2080ti, titan rtx or wait until the next generation.
