after charging they still say mismatched and that both airpods are "not yours" even though i replaced them through applecare at an apple store

I tried the factory reset and they paired to my phone but the find my app still shows setup incomplete and says AirPod mismatch. I don’t think they are cleared from the previous owner’s account. Is there anything else I can try?
