The new Ioniq 5 not only looks like it's made of space-age materials, but it manages up to 300 miles of electric running and utilises 350kW charging.

That's partly thanks to the car being built on 800v electric architecture, the same technology you'll find underpinning more expensive cars like the Porsche Taycan. This also allows the Ioniq 5 to support V2L (vehicle to load), allowing you to charging up appliances using the EV's battery. Couple that with the car's sizeable proportions and nippy powertrains and you've got something that joins the ever-growing list of Model 3 rivals. Here's how we got on...

The problem with mate lack is when there is a scratch you can’t polish it it will become shiny spot, plus the bird droppings will eat in to the paint do not bother with mate lack !

The question I have is which one out of the three on offer do I get - the standard the ultimate or the premium - especially if I do not do a lot of long range driving

I test drove one a couple of weeks ago. It’s a great car and I found it refined and smooth when compared to an Enyaq which I drove on the same day. The interior is huge and it feels great. However I just need a deeper boot than it provides - it might say over 500 litres on the spec sheet but it’s really shallow in real life (i.e. it’s deep and wide but shallow). Just not suitable for my family life. I’ve ordered a Q4 E-Tron instead as it’s the same price on my company scheme for a similar spec. Shame as if it was just for myself I might well have ordered the Ionic 5.

Too EXPENSIVE EVEN IN THE US!! Also read that the Kia will be available in all states because they prepared their dealerships with their previous EVs and Hyundai is not prepared and won’t have them available in all states! What a mess!
