I am 85 years old and have my 1st bypass at 44. This heart disease runs in my family, dad and grandfather. Over the years stents, pacemaker and continuous care at Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island. About 11 years ago a second bypass. I have problems but managing with a good team of doctors. I still drive, travel and enjoy every day that I have. No guarantees in life but hey 85 is pretty good.

This man is amazing for consenting for the procedure to be filmed! This video will be invaluable for thousands of students and the general public to see what goes on in the OR. Props to him and I hope the rest of his recovery went smoothly!

I had double By-pass following a MI (heart attack) in June 1991 and I'm still here. They saved my life and I can't tell you how grateful i am. You see I was 45 years old then and almost 77 now. A lot changed that day you see I was in the military 22 years and retired less than 5 years and the Doctors said it was probably too much military stress over too long a period and inconsistent and improper diet when deployed. I used to be a runner and that ended that day because I simply do not have the air anymore. I did work myself back somewhat but nowhere like I was before. I miss that part of my life but I like being alive more. I watch my diet very closely and still exercise to a degree. But most of all I watched my children grow up. I give thanks to you medical professionals you have my deepest gratitude.

Seven years ago I had a triple bypass and had stroke during the surgery. I’m told that a small percentage of patience do have strokes. I deal with aphasia language issues and mild motor skills. I am now 81 years of age and good health. Thank God for good medication and excellent doctors!

Had a triple bypass surgery in 2019. I’m a veteran and thank the surgeons and staff. This surgery is a life changer. Lots of pain, emotional and physical. Depression and anxiety. I pray for every one that has one.

My late grandfather had a quadruple bypass in 1998, a surgery that would mean only 10 years of life left... he lived up until the end of 2017... 19 years after his surgery. I am amazed by the sheer quality of the surgeries that take place with the careful attention to detail.

TO ANYONE WATCHING THIS GETTING READY. Do not worry, it is a long road, but you WILL get through it and in the end be very glad you did. My credentials? It is 7/16/24 Canadian, 67 years....came to hospital 6/29/24 wasn't feeling well, 7/2/24 triple by-pass ( total shock as it may be to many, that I even had heart disease). You are scared don't know what to expect. Have faith in God, your surgical team, and your ability to take over after surgery, follow the instructions and get ready to feel better, and enjoy a better quality of life! Good luck snd God bless you.

I can relate to Dan Williams... I had triple bypass open heart surgery in April of this year. The worst part for me was the first 4 days. I felt the worst I think anyone could ever feel. I was exhausted & wanted everyone to let me sleep for a week. They got me up the day after surgery & I felt they brought me on a marathon. It took everything out of me. I really thought death was coming my way the first few days. For me, I believe, a contributing factor may have been the heavy medication I was on. On the second day I asked to just take Tylenol extra strength (enough with the narcotics). This put me on a better path day by day. It was a long haul & a lot of work. I am almost at the 6 month mark & feel pretty thankful to be alive. Positive thoughts, positive mind (trust me I do have my bad days). I have my second chance at life & I'm here to talk about it & see my family grow. To anyone going through this, take it day by day. Enjoy the small pleasures in life... Bonn!e

Went in to the e.r. with shortness of breath may, 13 2022 had 4 blockages and a 5th forming. 1st surgery ever I was stunned. 40 yrs old. I was scared shitless but I made it through. Surgery may 18 went home may 25. To me it was more of a mental challenge than physical. Salute anybody going through this or been through it. I love you all 💜

God bless our medical personnel everywhere. I never appreciated them more until I went into the emergency room and it was determined that I needed emergency double by-pass surgery. I only remember bits and pieces of what happened between having my initial EKG and waking up in the second floor recovery room. However, I will never forget and will always be thankful for the professional care that I was provided during my three week stay in hospital. Thank you all so much for being there for me and my family. Big shout out to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital staff and West Tennessee Healthcare Jackson, Tennessee employees.

I thank the medical professionals in this video (and all the others), but I also praise the patient for allowing this intimate story in his life to be filmed. Knowledge gleaned truly is the best protection for a healthy life for all of us.

suffered heart attack didn't knew it was an attack, doctors said needed a triple bypass, i was scared to death, as i am just 42 yrs old with a 5 yr and one 2 month lovely kids and a supportive wife, was feeling helpless, didn't want to go under the knife, but there was no option with all 100% blocks and diffused coronary heart disease, open heart was inevitable, finally somehow gathered courage and after the doctors examining me and performing various test the surgery was done & was successful, believe me the pain after the surgery is wore than any advanced torture techniques, but it wont last long, everyday the pain subsides, eventually you are like Captain America, able to walk more run more talk more lift weights more, no fatigue whatsoever you are healthy as horse, only thing is you must maintain it now, take your medications properly, eat healthy, sleep on time, never ever go near cigarettes or fatty foods, if you want to live longer.
