Triple Bypass Heart Surgery: Cynthia's Story

Young and seemingly healthy, Cynthia was at work when she started feeling the symptoms of a heart attack. A co-worker drove her to a local hospital where she was diagnosed with three tears in the arteries leading to her heart. Two days later, Cynthia was transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where she met cardiac surgeon Dr. Wilson Szeto.

After a week of discussing her options with Dr. Szeto, her cardiologist Dr. Bhavsar and her family, Cynthia made the decision to undergo triple bypass surgery. “They were really good at relating person to person,” Cynthia says. “That ability to be human and connect really enabled me to trust everything they were saying.”

Today, Cynthia is proud to share that she is a success story.

50 years old when I had a 6 way bypass on August 12th 2022. Was in the hospital 4 days. I had no symptoms. No heart attack. Went to doc for anxiety. She gave me some nerve pills but said lets do some tests anyway. I said sure. My widow maker artery had a 2mm opening. Thats all that was keeping me alive. Postponed my surgery for a week so i could go to a concert and get drunk as hell. I was walking the next morning after surgy and back to work in 7 weeks. Columbus Indiana heart center is the best. Dr. Gregory Didinski knows his shit. Awesome doc.

:) I had a triple bypass over 8 years ago. At the time, I had an unusual feeling in my chest - no family history of heart issues, low cholesterol, not particularly old (55 at the time), resting heart rate of 52 (average), low blood pressure, no drinking, relatively fit and healthy (my chest also hurt if I exerted myself - which made me conclude that my heart was starved of oxygen). My local GP diagnosed stress and I demanded to see a cardiologist.
What was initially thought to be a major blockage of a single coronary artery, turned out to be 3 blockages of 3 separate vessels).
I am now, fitter than I have been for decades.
The moral of my story, know your body and listen to it.

All the best to all. :)

Its good to have many surgeons, cardiologists that can perform the impossible, unimaginable and the extraordinary to the lives of patients similar to this. It is a blessing that many medical professionals does the work, when some thinks that it is impossible, it is to be put into consideration that these cardiologist, surgeons are beyond dedication as well as the mastery of the science of life. Keep going and continue to make the possibilities evident in the field of medicine, that enlightens many, that gives them the abilities to excel without not being succumbed by their highest intellect. Plenty of blessings to the surgeons, cardiologists that brings back life at a phase of the unimaginable.

I'm sitting in my hospital room wearing my hospital gown recovering from quadruple bypass surgery. I will go home tomorrow to continue my blessed life. The symptoms seemed somewhat subtle and had it not been nor my darling wife insisting that I go to ER I may not be here to type this. Pay close attention to your body and what it's trying to tell you. It may not be exactly speaking your language.
