I wish I had had a math teacher like you. In our secondary school the math teacher would write things on the board and then say now do it. No explanation or instructions. You'd put your hand up to ask what you needed to do or how to work out the steps and she would shout at you, so you'd turn to a classmate and ask them how to do it and she'd tell you to get out.
I'm 36 and thanks to YouTube I'm finally able to do simple math.

I done brilliant at maths while really poor at history. I love both subjects but my maths teacher excelled in making it interesting which made the difference.

I agree with the math instructor, math is interesting. Math is very much like solving a puzzle, and it gets really fun in physics, especially when you get to work out the math and observe phenomena that is going exactly as the math model predicted.
