The Queen Anne style is by far the most popular in and around Boston.My aunt owned one in Dorchester and it was absolutely beautiful.There are thousands of them in Dorchester alone..

Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival are my favorites and work together very well. I wish more homes being built today had the character of an old home. The Contractor Generic style is really boring.

So many houses of all styles feature exterior shutters of the wrong size for the window, or installed incorrectly. Each shutter’s width should be half the width of the window it’s supposed to cover, and the height equal to the height of the window. In other words, the shutters should look like they could close, flush inside the exterior window casing even if they’re just decorative.) Worse yet is adding shutters to a house that would never have had shutters.
