Costume designer here…Not true …the oversized bustles and crinoline made in a way they could sit. The crinoline allowed women to stand still or sit down in any number of settings. Corsets we’re only restrictive if over tightened. Mourning bLack was in vogue way before Victorian era. Dates back to ancient time.
