I love confident Leonard. Had he been this way in the beginning she’d have said yes to going out and they might’ve worked out well. As it is, she had to be friends, be on the fence about dating him, and help him become confident. I don’t normally like the “re-dating” trope in sitcoms, but it works here because of that. This is the kind of Leonard she could really be with/marry, not the previous no-self-confidence Leonard.

I remember this scene when I first watched it and was really impressed by his assertiveness "Not like a date, a date". To bad the writers continued to make a mockery of him and make their relationship basically become summed up as "The b*tch and the simp". Man did they crap all over the characters in the later seasons.
