It's impossible to disagree with Elon Musk's recent prediction that GM will shortly declare bankruptcy and leave bankruptcy protection. General Motors gave a new company called New gm ownership of the former company's assets in 2009. During the process, GM closed a significant portion of its underperforming assets.

Remember when Holden in Australia was shut down and all of their other manufacturers had to shut down until Australia set up GM manufacturers to save them! Gm is the biggest supplier to all of the other manufacturers

As my brother is fond of saying, GM is a pension plan that happens to make cars on the side. GM has access to huge bank loans, and although it has many challenges, they actually took back the #1 car vendor in the USA away from Toyota in 2022. So although the parts shortage did hurt them badly, they did okay relative to their competitors.

The big three vehicle companies know without a doubt how to handle bankruptcy. They’ve done this in the past. Reach out to the generations that brought them back from the depths. If we did it once we can do it again. Might be time to form the same sort of relationship fiat has with Chrysler.
