Great take, I would align this card as a subscription as well, you are prepaying for the services by virtue of paying the annual fee and then clawing back the fee through the already prepaid credits. Like many subscriptions they trick you, lol, oh you are getting Uber Eats credits, (sorry fine print is that Uber Eats marks everything up), you get a $200 hotel credit (fine print most hotels in this category are way over $200), you get a $50 Saks credit (well sort of because Saks no longer has free shipping), 😂

Hmm For the ones thats saying CSR is the same subscription book as plaitnum i would have to respectfully & whole heartily disagree.

The CSR at least gets 3% on all of your dining 3% on your travel (forcing you to have the card in your wallet) trains, tolls, parking, so on. Restaurants world wide.

The platinum is a great card but in realty is in a league of its own when it comes to coupons subcriptions. That card should have had a better multipler then 1% outside of its 5% flight & hotel years ago.

To be fair, the hotel and flight credit are per calendar year and reset in the new year so it’s easy to use those twice before repaying your annual fee.

This week I will be in Centurion or Delta lounges in IAH, SLC, SFO, and LAX, flying on DL, AS, and AA, so I carry the Platinum weekly in my wallet. Next week the T4 Escape lounge PHX requires the physical card, not just the QR code. I bought all these Economy tix with the Plat 5X and have been upgraded to 1st because I have status with all, including UA. I don't care at all about other "benefits" and subscriptions/coupons.

In order to get the actual true value of the Plat, is if you fly often. And if you don’t mind hotels through the travel portal, specifically FHR. If you don’t do either of these two, it’s not a good card for you.
