So lets keep the complicated internal combustion engine, with all its accessories, cooling, lubrication, fuel management etc and then add High pressure tanks to store H2. Then build a new network of fuelling stations across the country to use H2 made with 5x the Electricity that a pure EV uses. An EV which has a simple, zero maintenance motor with far more power than a H2 engine. and which can be recharged at millions of existing power outlets all over the country already. Good on you Toyota, so clever.

Why would I want to buy a hydrogen car when I can get an electric car ..charge it at home with my own combination of batteries and solar

EV's are not going away. There is massive battery advances. It's more efficient to produce electricity than hydrogen. There is no adaptable infrastructure to supply hydrogen . The electrical grid and solar are here now. The cost of a hydrogen generator is much higher than an electric charging station.

The key is in the tank in the auto.
Why won’t anyone talk about the fuel tank other than it is massive and heavy.
Right now who wants a 5000 pound bomb in their back pocket.
Propane tanks for autos take up almost all the trunk space and it is a liquid.
Don’t know what pressure it is . Natural gas takes lots of pressure, but there was talk of it many years ago. Don’t think anything will replace good old gasoline in the near future. It’s a liquid at

The issue is not hydrogen power chain, it is not even EV power chain. It is just how the heck average people get hydrogen, the infrastructure. If H2 is readily available as gasoline, no one will reject. And please get the technical correct. Current Toyota H2 power chain is NOT combustion of H2. It is fuel cell. No combustion.

This is an awful advertisement. Hydrogen cars are not the future for many, many good reasons.
