Most of us are naturally curious as to why Jesus underwent baptism. Especially since John baptized Jesus after saying the Bible says John preached a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins! In this video I'll explain why Jesus was baptized and what deep theological truths we learn from it. I'll also tackle some of the false teaching of Bart Ehrman about the gospel of Mark.

Don't let Bart Errman interpret the Bible for you. That's wisdom.
Great vid, Mike. As always. ❤

I am fast realizing after just 11 verses of Mark that my Bible will not hold all my notes. Thank you for so much information to help me grow in my knowledge of God’s word.

It is wild how deep you can go on two verses🤯. I basically forgot we were learning about why Jesus would be baptized, this is awesome. Jesus has done so much more than I think a lot of people would realize. Jesus becomes greater and greater as I watch the Mark series.

My dad, without any doubt, was my spiritual teacher and leader growing up and still is as my pastor now, and he taught me about 90% of what Mike teaches with the same exact verses growing up and now, for a really long time we were waiting and hoping for another to teach what My dad taught, and last year 2023 we found your channel, Thank you Mike for showing Me and dad we’re not the lonely kids on a hill.

For the last 6 years I have been forging a relationship with God. The way John was described with his food and clothing reminded me of his character. His actions spoke louder than words. It reminded me to put my energy into actions, not only words. To be a christian you have to act like one. Thank you so very much for the sermon/lesson.

I thoroughly enjoyed this lesson. Just hearing the humbleness of such a mighty, powerful, righteous, and Holy God, draws my spirit to thirst and hunger for a closer, and nearer intimacy, which I know NOT how to obtain while still in the flesh, yet strive to arrive within His presence.

Im studying with your videos in this Mark series, been wanting to start for a while. I pray that you may include other books in the Bible as well, too! Soon since I know these takes alot of hardwork and preparation, with the grace and power of the Holy Spirit of course, as always. Thank you for your faithful work, teaching accurately the bible to the body of Christ! The Lord bless you and your whole family🙏🏻

Hey Mike. I'm thanking you so much for making this and thanking God for helping me find this video. It was perfect that I found it because I'm getting baptized on Wednesday. This really helped me understand the deeper meaning of what I'm about to do

Adoptionism was simply refuted in Luke 2:49. He was 12 years old, and knew he had to be in His father’s house.

Great video! I'm really enjoying this series on Mark. I'm also excited that you brought up the idea of the "heavens" being "torn" open. That comment about sounding like something out of Star Trek really resonated with me. From my own study of scripture, ancient Mesopotamian cultures, and pop quantum theory, I've comee to lean towards the idea that "heaven" (the place where God dwells) is inter-dimensional. What was "torn" was the "veil" that separates our physical dimension from the spiritual dimension. I see the similarities between this and the veil in the Tabernacle and Temple that separated the presence of God from the people. Interestingly I've read that some scholars and theologians posit that the "veil" didn't exist at creation but rather was installed after Adam's sin hence why God freely walked in the garden in the cool of the day. The purpose of the veil is to protect man from being destroyed by the holy presence of God which is why the Lord told Moses that no one may look upon Him and live. Another interesting correlation is between the tearing of the veil in the temple at Christ's death signifying the end of the spiritual separation between God and man and culmination of God's plan of salvation and restoration in the description of the New heavens and new earth with the new Jerusalem descending from heaven thus ending the physical separation of God and Man.

Don't know if any of that is right but it sure sounds cool, lol.

I saw the talk about the gospels by B.E. I had never heard of him before, didn’t know anything about him. I was impressed by his education and .authority and that he spoke to an auditorium full of students and others. I considered him a Christian.
But as he proceded to tear the authenticy of the gospels apart, as well as the rest of the bible, As well as ridicule everything about them, I got this awful- awful feeling like blackness inside of me. It frightened me! And made me realize that this man was not at all a man of God!
But I stuck it through and listened to the whole talk. And I am glad I did that, because now I know what you, Mike, are relating to when you mention his name.

Wow. Two thoughts.
1. I've been a Christian for many years, and it's not until now that I see that the Bible is so well crafted, I find it incredibly unlikely that it was forged by men. Today pastors all over struggle in interpreting these things, and yet they are the advocates for Christ. Why then would men forge a lie, and to go to such great extent, and to what gain if it leads to righteous living?
2. "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." Seems like there is a bit of a comedy at play here. Jesus gets baptized, and there is no cleansing or repentance to be done! Seems like His baptism also served to authenticate His righteousness in this manner.

So glad I found your ministry Mike, thank you so much!

My brain always changes your name to Mark Winger, lol. God bless you for your ministry, keep you in all diligence and love, and protect you from the evil one.
