I work with the wife of a lineman - he left out two days before the hurricane to stage in FL. He is now up in VA and she is not expecting him home until Thanksgiving - OMG. Thanks Meg for your oh so kind shout out to these hard working men and their self sacrificing families.

Glad your power is back. I just watched the Rhodes family video. They got hit really bad, a lot of rebuilding to do, I wouldn't know where to start. But at least they are all alive and still have a house.

My nephew is a lineman and he has been gone since before the hurricane as well in Florida and he has two very young children and he is not expected home for a very long time. But once they get things back in grid I think he might get to come home for a few days to see his family. His wife is a strong woman and is use to him being gone but it’s never easy when you worry about them being out there working in power lines praying for all the linemen that are working so hard to help everyone in the states that has been affected by the storms. My prayers are with them and their families. We been donating and tractor trailers been going to North Carolina two times a week. It’s such a blessing to seeing people pull together like this.

Chest freezer tip: Big canvas bags with handles are great for putting like-kinds of frozen foods. The bags can be stacked without problem and it is easy to lift out the top row to get to the bottom row.

Never a more American family than the Hollar family. Sending another busload of supplies from Texas to the hurricane victims. GOD Bless everyone in the path of this storm, prayers sent for all that have lost their lives. So proud of all the true Americans that are pulling together for months to come. ♥ ♥ ♥

I’m the wife of 41 year utility worker (now retired) and I totally sympathize with first responder families. We’ve been in the same boat without power for days on end too. Thank goodness for generator’s and gas stoves and water heaters! So happy you all came thru Helene safely.

Glad you got your power back. My dad was a lineman when I was a kid and he would go out during rain storms and ice storms to help restore power, and also out of state during disasters, so I too say thank you to lineman and their families. Strawberry pineapple is one of my favorite jams to make, it uses crushed pineapple

I’m so thankful you have power to your house, and hope you now have it in your house! Meg, you are a very resilient woman. In the wake of a disaster, you manage to look after six children, feed eight people home-cooked meals (including canard au vin rouge!) and make a YouTube video, and then to top it off, you make jam! If it were me in that situation, we would be eating tuna on crackers, with a side of mushy strawberries! You make the Proverbs 31 woman look like a slacker!
You have been in my prayers, as have all of the people in the path of the hurricane. The videos I have seen are gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. I will continue to pray for all those affected. My heart and prayers go out especially for those who have lost loved ones.

Yes thank you to all the servicemen and their families. From the time I was a little girl until I don't remember, my dad worked for the city of Los Angeles California as a tree surgeon and later a supervisor. I remember when the Santa Ana winds would kick up and he would be called out late at night. I would be laying in my bed praying that a tree did not fall on him. It wasn't until the next morning and I heard the front door close that I could rest. Miss you Daddy 💜

It’s such a blessing that women like you and me know how to handle things like that. That we know how to make jelly and can, etc. I wish more women would feel calling to learn more about food, preservation, and taking care of their families like that.

I can say is YOU ARE THE WO-MAN !!! When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I appreciate you guys so much. I have really, truly, changed the way I do things around my kitchen because of what I have learned from you. I will used to waste so much food because of mindlessness. I am now much more mindful now of rotating food, cooking more (go figure.... LOL), coming up with recipes to use up what needs to be used simple, right? But with the chaos of work, yard work, etc. etc. My kitchen and food was being neglected and wasted. I am a much more mindful gardener as well. Instead of growing just whatever in the garden, I have been focusing more on what I need to fill my pantry, and YES, that means canning !!! Thank you all so much for everything you do, and share, with all of us out here. I hope others have grabbed onto this valuable knowledge you share. It is not only about entertainment, but education.
