I think Isuzu Turbo-Diesels from the 80’s/90’s/00’s deserve recognition, bulletproof engines, albeit slow, but very receptive to tuning.

I’m a Toyota nut. But where is the love for the Nissan UD engines? FE6TA 6.9 inline 6 diesel!

You forgot the holy grail of Toyota diesels. The legendary 12ht, designed by Hino for trucks and busses and put in the factory turbo 60 series landcruiser. Probably only bettered by the 1hdt

The 3.0 KZTE and Hilux 3.0 D4D are very reliable as well.

I’m not the biggest fan of 70’s-00’s Nissan Diesels. They used belt-driven MFI pumps - imagine what happens if that belt fails. I don’t know much about Toyota Diesels, but, I know that Isuzu diesels used timing chains, like Mercedes did.

The toyota L series is kinda sh*te

They have a design flaw where the cooling channels are too close to the combustion chambers

Overtime hairline cracks will appear and the engine would keep overheating

I honestly prefer the KD series compared to the L

just get a german diesel, those guys invented their 1.9/2.0 in ww2. millon km is no problem for these engines, even today.
