In this video, Greg Shields covers how to configure VMware Workstation 8 for nested Hyper-V virtualization. He shows you what you need to do in order to run a Hyper-V virtual machine inside a VMware virtual machine. This includes the two important VMware settings that you must make.

After watching this video, you will know how to run a Hyper-V virtual machine within a VMware virtual machine. Greg demonstrates this by running a Hyper-V virtual machine within an instance of Windows Server 2012 that is in itself running within a VMWare virtual machine.

He further shows you the two VMware settings that you must make to accomplish this. The first requires you to turn on the virtualization of the computer processor’s virtualization component in the virtual machine’s GUI setting. The second requires you to manually add a command to the virtual machine’s .vmx configuration file.
