This video is about combining ship designs to create powerful fleet comps. I couldn't find any solid clear information as to what comps were best so I came up with my own ideas for what I think would be good. Hope they work for you. Enjoy!

I enjoy 6-10 battleships with T lances and the rest torpedo crusers depending on fleet size. I took that from looking at what a fallen empire's fleet comp

My own personal notes:

The corvettes is pretty decent since that seems to be the META right now with disruptors, since disruptors (and strike craft) are the go-to anti corvette/frigate one. Unless I'm running the one-two punch in which case I equip them with autocannons instead.

Frigate: Forget about them. No, really. They're almost entirely worthess. Anything they can do cruisers can do better. You might be able to mass spam them into a cloaked stealth attack system early on to damage enemy fleets in a pearl harbor sneak attack right after declaring a war, but even that's more suicide meme bomber tactic than anything.

Destroyers: Why you have them as the missile boats boggles the mind. Just have them as the PD Screen. Leave the missile loadout for cruisers.

Cruisers: I typically run two types of cruisers: The missile boat (All M slots with swarmers) and the torpedo bomber (2 torpedo slots with disruptor S weapons. Or autocannons if I'm running the one-two punch or ballanced breakfast as listed below). You get more bang for your buck than you do by running M slot disruptors.
Before I unlock battleships, I made two variants of the aformentioned Missile Boat: one with all M slots, and one with a hangar slot to let it act as a sort of light-carrier. Once I get battleships though I let them take the carrier role and merge the Missile-carrier hybrid cruisers back into straight missile cruisers.

Battleship: Unless I'm running the one-two punch or the disruption junction, I run the full 3-hangar loadout. I know some people swear by the X Slot weapons but I find them superfluous. In the former case, I also run the artillery battleship (but with plasma or lasers instead but with the mega cannon for the anti-shield first strike). In the latter case, I use Arc Emitters and Cloud Lightning if I have them. The latter isn't all that great I know, but I like theming.

So I tend to run one of four 'themes', depending on what I'm playing as, for a bit of roleplay. These are the 'ballanced breakfast', the 'one-two punch', the 'missile marauder', and the 'disruption junction'.

Balanced Breakfast: the most 'meta' version that uses the variety of weapons as shown above. Disruptor corvettes, PD Destroyers with missiles, Missile and torpedo+autocannon cruisers, Energy artillery and missile carrier battleship with energy artillery titans.

One two punch: much like the balanced breakfast but with no missiles, disruptors, or devestator torpedos. Doesnt' really work as well in practice as it does on paper, but still fun to play none the less. Autocannon corvettes, PD Destroyers with kinetic/laser mix (it's not like they really use them anyway), Autocanon assault carrier cruisers (and later Energy Torpedo cruisers), and energy artillery battleships/energy artillery carrier battleships.

Missile Marauders: The answer to all of life's problems: use a missile. And if that don't work, use more missiles. As you might have guessed, this one tends to be mainly cruiser-oriented.
A small number of PD-Missile corvettes and PD Missile destroyers to act as a screen/skirmisher. But the real firepower comes from a bunch of swarmer missile cruisers which make up the bulk of the navy, with some missile-torpedo bombers thrown in too for heavier ships. Battleships tend to be used sparringly, and they always run the full carrier loadout with... you guessed it, swarmer missiles. Fuck artillery battleships and fuck titans.

Disruption Junction: I mostly restrict this to machine empires as it suits them the most. The emphasis here is on bypass weapons. Torpedos and Disruptors to be precise, and more the latter than the former.
Quite a few disruptor corvettes, your typical PD Destroyers with disruptors, Torpedo bomber Cruisers with disruptors, M slot cruisers with disruptors, and purely carrier battleships of which are used very sparingly. Unless i get cloud lightning in which case I have artillery battleships with arc emitters and cloud lightning. The latter isn't very good, but it fits the theme, and it's better than trying to use battleships as some sort of line ship (save that for the other ships.)

I like your cruiser design and have adopted it as a custom ship to go alongside mine. I haven't tried it in multi-player but it smashes the AI. Thanks bro

As a beginner I couldn't understand much, leaving more questions than answers. This leaned more towards an Advanced Ship Designer Tutorial than Composition (30% ship X, 50% ship Y, 20% ship Z). And I say Advanced Ship Designer because we don't have even 5% of whats shown unlocked after 5+ hours playing, leaving no alternatives to putting Disruptors on literally everything.

But thanks anyway, I'll watch it again after 100h, maybe.

(e.g., I didn't even know what Disruptors were while this Guide assumed you knew, even a simple mouse hovering would help with those basics, or a demonstration in battle)

Thanks for the ideas I can’t wait to try them!

Love to see some discussion on this. Disruptors are a lot better now, but they rarely actually KILL the enemy ships, just force disengagements. They can be pretty good in certain situations tho. Miss hearing about carriers and PD tbh, carriers seem pretty good against corvettes, and if you're bringing battleships I would highly recommend bringing some PD destroyers to act as screen, keeping your battleships alive for longer. Not sure about the battleship:screen ratio though? Still figuring out the right balance rn.

I would probably advise against using disruptor/torpedo cruisers against a high level crisis. The Crisis weapons will one-shot you, so getting in that close will be costly if not downright disastrous. I might be wrong, but my greatest success against the crisis comes from playing at long-range.

My biggest question tends to be what the ratios of mixed fleets should be. Like, how many corvettes to destroyers, or cruisers to battleships. While I know it can vary from fleet to fleet or not matter with Mono-Hull strategies, I'd like a rule of thumb or something like that to work with.

Very good video !

Be careful with disruptors when fighting a militarist empire, they may switch their war doctrine to "no retreat"

What has been working for me is disruptor destroyers some with PD mixed with torpedo and missile/swarmer cruisers and two carrier cor battleships with swarmer missiles.

I feel like if you are using torpedos you are going to want missiles to break their PD nets. But disrupters with arty BB’s seems smart as the disrupters are coded to want to fire at the smaller stuff and the arty is coded to fire at the bigger stuff. So the disrupters disengage the small stuff leaving the arty more likely to kill their capital ships. But I am curious how this would work in game

Gigastructure mod and just go all Attack Moon

i dont think you can put as many missiles on cruisers anymore? unless this is just a console edition thing.
if this is just outdated or something that would make more sense.

On Xbox I wish we could put missiles on small, medium and large points

thnx for the video
my question is the ratio. for example corvette-cruiser mix. how many corvette for each cruiser.
and the ratio for other compositions.

What version of the game are you playing this in?

Disruptor this Disruptor that, isn't that bad design and weapon balance? What are the drawnbacks of Disruptors? Maybe they're unlocked only endgame with technology from the future? kek

Interesting but not ideal for everything. I guess aganist an ai its gonna work everytime. You can bully normal empires with disruptor spam forcing constant disengagements for ai.

Using all disruptors is not as great as most make it sound because they force disengagements which is not as good as casualties because casualties will hit your opponents warscore harder.
