The Non-Canon Expert looks at the events seen in yesterday's issue of the Vader: Dark Visions comic, explaining how Imperial Commander Tylux did everything in his power to escape the wrath of Darth Vader, including flying his Star Destroyer into the mouth of an exogorth!

This is a Canon story for Commander Tylux and Darth Vader as seen in Issue #2 of the Canon comic "Vader: Dark Visions." I hope that you enjoy it!

“Failure is unacceptable!”

What did everyone think of Vader: Dark Visions issue #2? I was unprepared for just how much I would enjoy this series, and issue #3 looks like it is going to be an interesting one too! Thank you for watching everyone, I hope you enjoy today’s video.

Can you imagine what the Rebels thought when they exit from hyperspace, only to rescue a single pilot. Only to see this absolutely battered Star Destroyer.
I bet the Spy had a helluva story to tell.

Vader: *humming* Tylux has been doing well, more than well. I may promote him when I get there.
*exits hyperspace to find the star destroyer torn to shreds, covered in worm goop, and on fire with an entire rebel fleet six inches from his face*
Vader: WTF Tylux.

As an imperial officer I would have also become mad and crazy witnessing the ridicolous amount of plot armor the rebels were getting.

Promotions are not really a good thing in the Imperial Navy.

Tylux was trying to escape because Vader heard him saying that he liked sand.

“Flying an ISD into the space slug much to the dismay of the crew”. Yeah much to the dismay of the slug too I’d imagine!

This was a major problem with the Imperial command structure.
With the constant threat of being brutally murdered for small blunders hanging over your head, with not even your rank and years of experience to save you, officers get desperate to succeed in their goals, often resulting in making bigger mistakes at the cost if the Empire.
While Vader was supposedly the Empire's most powerful tool, he was also the Empite's greatest liability by crippling the command structure from the organized meritocracy of the Republic to a fear-driven free-for-all in the Empire. Then again, what do you exoect when you put deranged, emotionally unstable, cyborg, space wizard in charge of morale.

I think the art really pulls this off. It's crazy visceral and I love the style.

Officer: "Commander, The Rebel Spy has fled into that space slug. Shields are down, Weapons Tracking is offline and Damage Control reports hull breaches across several bow sections."
Tylux: "..."
Tylux: *"Ramming Speed."*

The officer's reaction to the news that Vader was coming to collect the spy is one of my favorite panels from a Star Wars comic ever

I think the commander hallucinated the whole time. His fear of Vader made him imagine how his visit and learning that they didn't have the spy was going to go down, and that fear pushed him to the edge to pursuit, which is something the rebels expected.

In the end, as the ship is on fire and he's about to die, the sum of all his fears materializes in front of his to deliver him to the Force. But Vader was never there.
