Both Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace, the two new contestants tasked with developing the future lunar EVA spacesuits hope to test their respective suits in 2025 at the earliest. Does this mean that we won't be putting any astronauts on the moon before 2026? Could SpaceX do something about it?

NASA learned from having only one option. Space Transportation System stopped and NASA was renting space from Russia. It's clear they do not want to face this only option failure again and I agree. So SpaceX simply cannot win every contract.

Not to me. Whereas I can see SpaceX as the "leading force" for going to Mars, I also think NASA, ESA, and other space administrations will play a supportive, maybe even pivotal role.
