SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket lands, then falls over and explodes

SpaceX’s attempt to land its Falcon 9 rocket on a barge appears successful until the rocket tips over and explodes into a ball of flames.

The company’s founder, Elon Musk, posted this footage to his Instagram page, captioning it: ‘Falcon lands on droneship, but the lockout collet doesn’t latch on one [of] the four legs, causing it to tip over post landing. Root cause may have been ice buildup due to condensation from heavy fog at liftoff.’ Although it appears to be a setback for the private spaceflight company, SpaceX did manage to land the rocket on solid ground in December.

Really looks like a landing leg didn't deploy in time to get locked properly. Poor execution. Deploy the legs sooner and this won't happen.

The challenger has has problems before and it exploded in the atmosphere but it was still better than a straight rocket and it has been modified since then but I bet It would be hard to buy a new an improved challenger after the Russians modified it from nasas original model to fly in and out of orbit and back through the atmosphereand have a perfectlandingon earth. I think Space X would benefit if they adopt Ideas from the challenger and yea I mean the challenger that has had so many problems until the Russians improved it.
