There's no shortage, there's a ton of empty apartments because no one can afford it. Everything is going up except for salaries

There's no shortage or apts in the city. There's a shortage of people willing to pay ridiculous amounts of money for a walk-up with roaches and rats and graffiti to live in an apt that looks like a converted elevator shaft.
I lived in the city for many, many years, and no way would I pay the rents they're asking, plus most people don't even qualify because your income has to be 40 times your monthly rent. Well, hello, how many people qualify do you think? And the people that do qualify, don't want to live like that.

How is someone that lives off minimum wage working 40 hours a week supposed to afford NYC rent and living costs ? It’s nearly impossible

There's a shortage of AFFORDABLE HOUSING in NYC because they're building new luxury buildings every day. 4 just opened near me and many more are under construction.

Bull shit I’ve seen plenty enough properties empty not being occupied & nobody is renting because you need a perfect credit score & make 70x times the rent

Anyone living in NYC at this time is crazy af. I was born and spent 41 years between Manhattan and Bronx and leaving upstate was the best move I made. For what it cost to live there I now own a 3500 sq ft home, underground pool, 6 acres of flat land, basement gym, 3 and a half bath and huge driveway. My insurance for my company van went from 460 a month to 26 and personal vehicles dropped thousands. The best part was I bought this home months before the crazies came out and the pandemic. 45 mins from city and way cheaper. My opinion to everyone. Cross a bridge in any direction and get out. Traveling within the city will always be a nightmare so why not save living out of it and have your own parking instead of waiting 3 hrs for one every day. You will own more then a closet as an apartment

This is a lie. You can go by any of these buildings today and there's tons of openings. The issue is you must make at least 150-200k to even get a tour of the place, so that weeds out a good 90-95% of potential buyers
