One thing that I never see suggested and that I've been doing for years: for water changes or for starting a new tank, instead of pouring onto the rockwork or a plastic bag or whatever, I have a colander that is dedicated to my tanks that I pour through. much easier!

BRS is great, but they need to drop this marine is just as easy as freshwater business. Look at how much of this video is devoted to salt mixing, salinity, purifying water to add salt, etc. It's more work. That's okay though. Just own it.

Can I substitute the reverse osmosis water for Deionized water. I work in a biochemistry lab and have access to a DI water purifier. I also plan to use the testing equipment we have to measure the sodium level directly.

Something to hold water, something to move water, rocks, sand, and a nice light for anything under 10 gallons just do a 50%+ water change weekly depending on the light you buy, you can keep just about any coral in my experience. Oh and a super snug lid! Second tank I ever had was 2 gallon fish bowl for over a year all inhabitants are happy and growing.

I actually recommend a sump filtration. I have a 120 with a 75 gallon sumpt and run compressed co2 I poured thousands into all my saltwaters my smallest is a 40

Unforturnaly, there is no such one video that covers detailed information to set up a Marine tank for beginers. Most of the info is bits and pieces and so confusing for a new hobbyists.
