Don't Make This Container Mistake!

My mum peps the soil in her containers like a week before she puts plants in it. She mixes the fertiliser at the step you say not to. But not all of it. She also.added it to the top as well with leave litter or grass.clippings etc. :)

Live soil is the best thing you can do to grow I haven't bought soil in over 5 years just make my own with my worm farm and my aqua garden that's aquaponics take the used fish water to mix in with the worm compost best soil you can use

depends on if the fertilizer is water soluble. Feather meal isn't water soluble for example and would be better buried to allow the microbes to break it down easier.

I usually add about half the containers worth of soil to the bottom and the top half containers worth I mix the fertilizer into. Always works super well 😊

I grew cannabis a couple years ago, used the same fox farm happy frog potting mix and I did an experiment, I had a total of six plants, three of them I top dressed with fertilizer like you did in this video and the other three I mixed the fertilizer in the planting hole, the ones with the fertilizer mixed in the planting hole grew about double the size and had a slightly better yield then the ones I top dressed.

If the fertilizer has a higher density, it will likely drown or fall deeper into the soil, and mixing it with the soil may just speed up the process.

I do both actually, I put fertilizer at the bottom where I place the plant most of the time it’s trees and bushes and I’m planting in a container. Then I top dress the plant with the same exact bio-tone that you use. That’s the best stuff in the world.

What if you’re using a self irrigating pot or bed, bringing water from below? Here, the water is so hard, after a couple weeks watering from above I got a nice mineral crust! I’m going to try your method, crust be darned! Keep up the good work😊

What about fertilizing wicking bed containers? The water is not seeping downward, so presumably mixing the fertilizer throughout is preferable?

Ive had great success with compost enrìched garden soil. Cheaper and no fuss. Worm castings after 4-5 weeks of growing is more than enough.
