What Is Container Rain? - Prevent Condensation In Your Shipping Container

In this short video, we will explain why shipping container rain forms in sea cans, and how you can prevent it.

Although there are multiple ways you can prevent container rain from forming, the easiest and most effective way to do so is install ventilation.

Without proper airflow, a shipping container that goes through fluctuating temperature changes from 20 degrees Celsius during the day to under zero at night will condensate. If it does, any stored items, such as cardboard boxes, vehicles, electronics and more can be destroyed.

To prevent this, the best and easiest vent to install on your container is Container Modification World’s Big Air 45. You can install it on the sidewalls, end wall and doors of sea containers from floor to ceiling.

Wow, it seems also suitable for a house in the form of a container so that it also facilitates air circulation for its residents.
Cool idea, thanks The Container Guy 🙂🙂

We put in a floor vent, and an attic type vent on the wall on the opposite end. Makes for some good air circulation without a fan.

Could be detrimental after installing insulation or plywood inside container. How can we prevent the steel from sweeting after installing those items?

Products are so expensive! It will be nice to see a little more competition available to consumers! Maybe we will see the cost for some of these products more affordable when these guys aren’t cornering the entire market.

What happens if you spray closed cell spray foam on the roof & walls. Still condensing?

I'm in Seattle. Its very cold 28 - 34, Also it is so foggy that visibility is only a few hundred feet. The doors of my containers are left partly open, and still I have this issue. I don't think its because of any temperature difference since the doors are left unlatched. Most likely just the incredibly high humidity from the fog is condensing. Still looking for solution. Considered stretching a tarp across the roof inside to catch the rain, but it would probably just condense on the tarp them instead of the ceiling. Either way, vents won't help me as it is already vented by the open door. We seem to have same problem but different cause.

I purchased 2 big air 45 vents from you guys. Installed them about a month ago, just like your diagram instructs. I live in south eastern BC. Yesterday was the first time I noticed condensation in the can? What do you think the issue is?

Seems like a solar powered fan might help too

And you don't show us how to install them?

I don't believe it.
I have a Versa Tube structure that is a roof only. No walls.
The underside of the roof condensates.
Fans are only passing outside humidity through and they aren't big enough to move the air required .

If moisture is not inside the container, you will not get condenstation.
