WHY YOU LOOK BAD IN BEANIES

Do you wish you could wear beanies but every single one you've tried ends up looking bad on you? Well, don't worry! You are not alone. Beanies are a really tricky thing to get right. Even when you know exactly what style suits you best, that still doesn't mean every hat in that style is going to look good on you. Anyway, in this video, I give you my tips when it comes to shopping for a beanie, and hopefully, by the end of the video, you'll know what to look out for.

Great analysis.
I just pull the beanie over my face and cut eye and mouth holes out. I don't always get positive reaction in banks or liquor stores but it works for me.

As someone with a shaved head, the worst is wearing a beanie if you haven't shaved in a couple of days. The stubble creates a Velcro effect!

I'm starting to love this Why-you-look-bad series.😁

As a knitter who has made many beanies, I have 2 contributions
1) the seamless construction, which is rare in 'commercial' beanies, but common in handknit ones, looks far neater and is more flattering (in my opinion)
2) I have made the same beanie pattern 4 times now in different yarns and they are VERY different. Yarn fibre, weight and construction all significantly affects how a beanie looks

Gotta say harry, these last few videos you seem so natural with the camera and it feels like a lot more of your humour is coming through, both in the script and the editing.

Your videos have always been great, but they seems to be getting even better - and I also love that you're one of the youtubers still giving genuine style advice, as opposed to just vlogging or talking about recent pickups (which is still fun content, but not always as useful as proper advice like what you do).

Really love seeing you come into your own as a channel!

As a dude who has worn many beanies in my life, I never thought I would come across a video breaking them down haha
Great video!

I’m growing my hair out so I’ve been depending on hats in this awkward phase.

Over the past year I’ve really dove into men’s fashion, and while it felt like I was in the dark, your videos helped tremendously and I feel infinitely more confident with how my personal style has developed. Thanks again, Harry!

“Look at these two without the cuff, you can see the sadness in their eyes”, that totally made me giggle. Thanks for the fun video.

1x1 rib stitch. Adds elasticity and allows for a wider range of head sizes being accommodated by one product. The beige hat is knit in a finer yarn than the second one which means it's a bit thinner, sleeker looking, has more drape (not as stiff if a fabric) and doesn't add too much width when cuffed. The second one is just bulkier looking and because it's a thicker fabric it probably doesn't want to lay as nicely on the head.

Finally a video that lays it all out! BEANIES MAKE NO SENSE! Half of us suffer through the winter not knowing up from down and whether or not she thought you looked like a fool at lunch. Lol!

Several people suggest that the style of knit that you like is called "ribbed, " but I think what you really like is the fact that the knitting is adjusted to wrap around the end of the segment of the beanie to be parallel to the seam. This makes the seam much neater and it will lie flatter than if the segments of the hat are simply sewn against each other, as in the case of the cheap beanie I'm wearing at the moment. This technique is called "fully fashioned, " indicating that the segments are knit into their final form, not merely cut. You'll see it on the shoulders of sweaters, too, if they are well made.

I love the faces you make when wearing a beanie you don’t like that much. Very good 10/10.

Thanks for the tips, Harry! I had written off beanies years ago, but now I realize I just haven't understood all of the different variations. I'm definitely going to try on more bc I would dread walking past the perfect beanie for me without having even trying it..

I get around this issue by literally making my own. Been burned too many times by badly fitting beanies, knitting is the way to go

Wild to me that people think this in depth about things like this, but to each their own! Cool video and I love my beanies. Cheers everyone

You’re definitely right about the difficulty of finding a beanie that fits and looks like you want. The beanie pattern in question is called ribbed knit or ribbed beanie I believe.
