Yes, I cut my own hair here. I’m aware it’s a mess and I didn’t notice whilst recording. At least this isn’t a hair styling video

Rule of 1/3 is brilliant. Opened my eyes, and I am applying it immediately.

Build was a huge one for me. When I was skinny (aka frail af) it was pretty easy to dress stylish. I've worked long and hard on building some proper mass on my frame, but the style that I've upheld for years suddenly looked weird on me. Kinda got stuck in the habit of wearing sportswear type stuff as a staple ever since, but I feel like I developed an authentic sense of style that I can't pull off anymore and it's kinda shit tbh

People hate hearing this, but a lot of super stylish people have very little variety in their closets. They take a few ideas that work the absolute best on them, and they buy variations on a theme. I'm 6'5" and relatively slim for my height. I like pretty luxe, fashion forward jackets, somewhat arty or edgy tees, skinny jeans, and some sort of boot. Mostly in black and gray, but with a few jewel tones. Pretty much all of my clothes work well enough together that I could get dressed in the dark if I wanted to. On paper it sounds limiting, but since everything goes with everything, the combinations I can put together are practically endless. Having some pieces that only work with a few other pieces is *much* more limiting.

Another thing people don't like hearing is unless you really love shopping, find a few brands that fit you beautifully, and tend to make things in colors that suit you, and don't deviate from them. It saves an enormous amount of time, and reduces, "I shouldn't have bought this. It doesn't work with anything I have." I personally love shopping, and will try on half of the men's department at Saks and a half dozen designer boutiques before lunch to find the most exciting piece that I know I'll wear all the time. My husband hates shopping, but still looks put together because he sticks to a few brands that fit him really well. It's really worth putting the legwork in and try on everything you can get your hands on, because once you find what works, you won't have to change often.

Lastly, spend the most money on what you're going to wear the most. You see guys spending hand over fist on dress clothes that they'll wear once or twice a year, while wearing H&M the rest of the time. That's totally backwards. If you're someone who likes a great leather jacket that they can throw on over anything, go to town on it. If you're a hoodie person, go for really luxe textural ones. (My favorite hoodie is cashmere from Zadig & Voltaire. Perfect for "Fuck it Friday, " flights, or long car rides. Worth every penny.) Spending a fortune on things that just sit for 364 days a year is a huge, huge waste of money. (Having said that, if you're someone who does like to dress up, I feel like the level of quality and the level of formality need to match. No one looks good in a cheap tuxedo. Period.)

The 1/3th rule is really nice, but I must say that it doesn't always apply. Myself for example, I am 1.98 meters and have (even for that length) pretty long legs and a small torso. Having a shirt tucked into my jeans makes my legs look *extremely* long, like I'm a walking tree or something haha.

“Pick a celebrity with a similar height and build to you and look at their clothes”
So Danny Devito, got it.

That’s just a joke though, you give good advice. I think silhouettes and basic shape composition are the things people getting into fashion lack the most.

I'm 6' 4" only about 180lbs. I switched to 514 Levi's from 513s after the longest time when I was around 170lbs. It changed everything because it "squared" off my long skinny legs and made me look physically stronger, took up more space rather than emphasizing already slim legs with skinny jeans lol. It's difficult dressing to be honest. Size large T shirts usually have potential to be too small, or not long enough, and XL T shirts are baggy as hell and sleeves way too open. At this height and weight, anything you wear is going to stand out much more to people, whatever the style may be, gotta be careful.

Thanks for the tips on fit and proportioning! I'm a lady that wears both feminine, masculine and androgynous looks, and I look to Dearly, Bethany for fit and proportioning for feminine outfits, but there isn't a lot of content on fit and proportioning for more masculine looks. I'll keep these in mind. Thanks again!

Spitting straight facts mate! Funnily enough I had a very similar video in the works but I think I'll hold off on releasing it for a bit because you have just done it so much better haha!

Wow, this video perfectly describes my styling journey. I wish this video came out years ago and save myself a lot of money on clothes lol. From proportions to the rule of 3rds, I had to discover these things for myself over a long period of time over a basis of simply figuring out what looks aesthetically pleasing.

Ive always had a sense of what looked good on me and what didnt and this really put things into perspective. The 1/3 rule is brilliant, it explains a lot why when i wear cropped outers or tuck in it looks more aesthethically pleasing. Also the part of being skinny and short not being recommended to wear baggy or very skinny pants, that part is sooo true aswell. I have a pair of baggy pants and they rarely look good on me.

Never given my outfits too much thought but coincidentally the one day I decide to go clothes shopping this pops up on my front page. Will be sure to keep some of this stuff in mind while I'm trying to find the right fit for me - Cheers!
