Rather than asking in what way Jesus was influenced by 1st century Jewish society and its values, it is probably more helpful to ask in what ways am I unduly influenced by 21st century American society and its values. In order to attain holiness I need to conform to Christ, not the other way around.

As someone who has same-sex attractions and is endeavoring to hold fast to Church teachings, thank you for saying this for myself and others to hear again. Unfortunately, people like Father Martin often build a bridge too far in trying to alleviate the existential fear that living a chaste life will result in us dying alone. Cases like that cause them to become enablers of grave sins instead of men like Father Mike Schmitz that we really need.

If we based our theology on what Jesus didn’t say, we could have an infinite number of sacraments

Jesus also said that He had not come to change even an iota of the law, but to amplify it.

As a former SSA-infected person - healed through Jesus - I am grateful for your clear words.
Validating sin is NOT an act of love, it is only a way to gain popularity among the weak-minded. It is a worldly act which damages the victims, often beyond repair.

Excellent. And as Scott Hahn has pointed out, we give that "one flesh" a name nine months after he or she has been conceived.

Jesus said Marriage is a Man and a Woman coming together and the two becoming one flesh. Also Jesus said he has not come to abolish the Law but to fulfillment it.

Another thing to consider when debating supporters of same-sex couplings/marriage within the church is the fact that they would say that Christ said x because he was a man of his time is blasphemy on it's face and we shouldn't be afriad to accuse them of it when they do so. To suggest that something Christ said is in any regard wrong or only true in that time suggests imperfection on the part of God who is perfect by his divine nature. If someone says something that contradicts Christ, they are contradicting God because Christ is the Second person of Trinity which means he is God and God cannot err, and if you contradict God you are wrong period. And if any man says he knows more than God he is either insane or a liar and should be treated in the way which you would treat either one of those.

It's shocking how many lay faithful know Scripture and Church teaching more than a Father Martin, who is a priest.

‘Before Abraham I am’ He said. He was there at Sodom and Gomorrah. We know wat happened there and why. Something to do with sodomy?

Thank you Brian. It’s so important to hear the TRUTH. Father Martin is leading people in the wrong direction. 😞

So well said, especially at the end. Thank you!

Of course He did. As part of the Godhead, the Second Person of the Trinity, He was present at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

With regard to interpretation of Holy Scripture, is there some structure or are there any guidelines as to when one is meant to focus on any one of the four ways of interpreting it? As a simple example, how does one understand whether the "seven days" of creation is meant to be interpretted literally as days or more from a poetic sense instead? I know that it is already possible to find exegesis that is approved by our Church, but I'm interested in knowing what makes a particular interpretation standout as the true interpretation.

I just had a thought. Jesus is the protagonist in everyone’s story whether people like it or not. Jesus knows what is right and that is the truth. He can only speak facts.
