How to Replace uPVC Window Handles

Replacing uPVC window handles is easy! The most popular types are known in the trade as espag handles and are found on upvc windows. They can literally be changed in around 2 minutes flat! These handles have a spindle protruding from the back of the handle. All that you need to do to replace these handles is find the length of spindle needed. If you have broken a window handle then take a different handle off a nearby window by its two screws and the spindle will be revealed. You just need the exposed spindle length, or in other words the amount going into the window. Choosing from the window handles available is simple. You can use cranked window handles or inline handles but just make sure with cranked you get your handing correct: right handed opens anti-clockwise. The only tools needed for the job are a philips screwdriver, tape measure and a sharpish blade for prising the screw cover caps away. It makes sense therefore to get your replacement window handles ready so that you can change them over easily without leaving the window as a security risk.
