How to Open a UPVC Window When the Handle Mechanism Has Failed

In this video I'll show you how you can open a UPVC window when the handle mechanism has failed. If you push the button in and the handle will not unlock, this normally indicates that the mechanism inside has failed. A simple way to open or shut the window is to use a thin piece of plastic such as a credit card.

If you find a credit card, or whatever piece of plastic you're using is too thick to fit into the handle gap, try cutting up a plastic bottle or even a very thin piece of cardboard from some packaging should do the job.

This piece just saved me some pounds. For more than 2 weeks, the 2 kitchen windows just got stuck amidst the terrible heat period of this summer thereby pushing some house flies and the heat from the kitchen to the main lounge and bedrooms.
