The species alone went extinct, but not because they died out. They evolved into a smaller more similar shark, which is the Great White. Makes much sense. Much like dinosaurs, while most of them died out, some survived and evolved into birds.

Dude, we don’t even know if the freaking megalodon is extinct we haven’t even explored nowhere near 100% in the ocean. We’ve only explored like 15%.
