I like pointing out she says nothing about the abortion bans in the USA, about women in Ukraine or Gaza...all she does is tweet about trans people, how is she "standing up for women" again?

As a nonbinary trans person who was a huge fan of Harry Potter, seeing JK Rowling spread hate against us is so disheartening. Some people say you should just separate the art from the artist but I honestly I can’t do that. Her spreading hate was what made me come out publicly. We are here, we’ve been here the entire time, we are not going anywhere! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

I am a cisgender straight guy, and my father and his current girlfriend - who are themselves cisgender and straight - have worked as teachers for several decades, and we recently discussed the way that some teachers harass transgender students.
Both my father and his girlfriend thought that it was unacceptable behaviour from teachers to refuse to respect a transgender student's gender identity, and they thought that those teachers made a huge scene out of nothing in very harmful ways.

Any good teacher knows that it is extremely important to maintain harmony in the classrooms, without making students feel attacked.
The job as a teacher isn't just "teach, teach, teach, that's all that matters - the students' well-being? who cares, fuck that!";
if teachers had that kind of attitude, then schools would be horrible environments.

I'm a trans man who went through conversion therapy. NOT THE SAME THING.

Also: Happy trans day of visibility! If you're stealth or closeted, please don't feel pressured to come out, but know that you are loved regardless of how you present. ❤

“JK Rowling never said that she wanted to boil trans people alive, she just said she wanted to put them in a pot of water that happened to be at 100 degrees Celsius and then seal the lid so they couldn’t escape”.

The bad Mother's Day joke is also really offensive to adoptive mothers and mothers who used egg donors

I am a cisgender straight man, and I grew up in the 90s with cisgender straight family members and friends, and barely even heard of so much as homosexuality until the mid-90s, and I still didn't develop any homophobic or transphobic attitudes;
partly because my family members and friends are actually nice people.

I am blocked by JK on Twitter. Why? I cofounded an LGBTQ+ charity and celebratory day 14 years ago which has since gone international. She said it was a fantastic initiative to celebrate “LGB” young people. I reply tweeted saying “I cofounded it, and FYI the T was definitely in there”. No reply. Just blocked.

22:44 Exactly. There are plenty of examples of violent and dangerous people that also happen to attend church on Sundays. Does that mean people who attend church on Sundays are violent and dangerous as a rule? Of course not.

I’m a cis woman but I have a trans brother and many, many trans friends. I have shared beds and bathrooms with trans men and women my whole life. Just want you all to know you’re valid and loved. I’m glad to live in an echo chamber where JKs rhetoric doesn’t often seep through. It makes my blood boil seeing the harm it’s doing.

I love how much of an ally Radcliffe is he had a video where he sat down and talked with some trans people to understand them more which is just so wholesome ❤🏳️‍⚧️

It's so wild that she has chosen to side with the same people who burned her books. And that they have embraced her.

It's so sad to see her transform (pun intended) from an author writing about coming of age and positive escapism to a person with a politically dangerous legacy.

"I'm not Transphobic, I've never said a single hateful thing in my life!" -- Smash cut to literally every single time they've said something stupid and awful.

JKR's essay in a nutshell:
"I was abused by men, so I'm gonna use my platform and financial power to attack trans women – That'll keep other (cis) women from being abused!"

Just... what?...

Very good overview. It was always a bit of an embarrassment to me in the 70s that a town where I had lived in and often visited was also know as the home of Anita Bryant. One thing that really strikes me about her tweets is the way she uses short slogans that implicitly beg the question or hide an anti-trans argument behind a seemingly simple statement like "sex is real". In that what she is really getting at is the bio-essentialist argument that your genetic sex (or what is between your legs) defines all aspects of your personality and feelings related to gender more than what is happening in your brain. It implicitly denies the distinction of gender as your won perception of yourself as distinct from your biological sex and whom you are attracted to (sexuality).

It is hard to accept that some one is genuinely feminist and pro-women when they take their talking points from people like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh.

My mom allowed my sister and I to change our names when we were young and then when she turned out to be trans and changed her name my mom freaked out about her “changing the name we gave you” and it’s equally destroyed both of our opinions of her.
