In this episode of Tai Chi Connection, we look at the transition between Wave Hands Like Clouds to Single Whip. Though it is not a difficult or intricate transition, there are a couple of key details that will ensure not only a smoother transition, but better Tai Chi all around.
1) Pre-pivot the foot to the 45 degree angle when doing the half step forward, that pivot will allow you to move right into the single whip technique instead of having incorrect foot position, or wasted extra time to adjust pivot once the foot steps down on the ground.
2) Keep the elbows bent, this is also extremely important as both arms should carry equal energy when completing the single whip technique and the elbows can easily point outwards instead of downwards, so keep an eye on them and make sure to keep them down.
