This is what works for me.

I stop eating at 8 p.m. and don't eat again until noon. My body has adapted and this is the way I prefer to eat, thus it has been very sustainable over the long term.

I usually work out on an empty stomach because it feels best to me, but I ALWAYS bring a snacks such as an energy bar just in case.

I usually pre hydrate, which I highly recommend researching before trying. For longer workouts, especially when it's very hot outside, I always bring water.

For my first meal of the day, I start with low fat protein (most fast-acting when it comes to satiety) and finish with carbs, making it less likely to overeat... I'm typically trying to maintain my weight or be in a very slight calorie deficit to lose weight comfortably.

Last, I very rarely work out at an intensity at which I have to huff and puff to breathe. At this level, things become an aerobic, and fat only burns aerobically. Going into anaerobic territory means tapping into vital glycogen stores, causing me intense craving for carbs post workout. And it makes me want to eat as many of them as possible.

I struggled with my weight my entire life until I started to get scientific about this stuff. I still live like a normal person. I don't diet. I just have these basic concepts committed to memory and I live by them. And I'm not afraid to break any of these rules. Diet sleep an exercise can all be impacted by our social interaction. So if I catch an early lunch or burn the candle and drink wine on the weekend, no biggie.
