Windows 11 24H2 New requirement cannot be bypassed as the OS will use instruction sets of CPU

There is a difference in removing the check for minimum requirements and the Operating System using a set of instructions that is needed in operations

My requirement to delete Windows and transition all my devices to Linux cannot be bypassed.

The instruction set was avaliable on most cpus from 2006 onwards. This isn't gonna change much.

How much do users need to be restricted before they search for alternatives?

If your system is not supported by Win11 that means that you don't need Win11.

According to Wikipedia, SSE4 was announced in 2006 and released a year later. That means that CPUs made in 2007 or later will most likely have the SSE4 instruction set. I think that computers that came preinstalled with Windows XP or Vista will not be getting any new feature updates for Windows 11.

The artificial hardware restrictions in the major OSes by MS and Apple is nuts.

The usual forced obsolescence, when processors work fine, yet lack the 'required' instruction sets 🤮

SSE4, specifically the relevant POPCNT instruction, was first used in Nehalem CPUs, it predates the current minimum "requirements" of WIN11 (Coffee Lake) by nearly 10 years.

Hello. First of all thanks for clearing up now that I know about the instruction sets now I understand why it won’t work even if I don’t like it. If the machine that I have, have it, and I should be OK. My oldest machine I have is I believe 2010. It’s a legacy machine so I don’t know how that would work. But thanks again for clearing up the core part versus the operating system thing. Now that I know that it’s gonna be relying on that instruction now I understand why there’s no bypasses available at this point. But, I can see where Microsoft would be doing more harm than good. You would think they would learn from their mistakes, but they don’t seem to care. Like I said, in the last comments, if you care about the environment and care about your clientele, you won’t make these reckless choices. But somehow, people who have luxury are able to do it. I personally, don’t want to have to buy new hardware every several years. I want my machines to last for quite a while. Anyway, thanks again and I hope that this will be the end of the reckless decision-making for a while, but something tells me we’re only getting started.

Nothing has changed over the years ive used Windows from 95 to Windows 10. They were always implementing system requirments back the day.

As a kid that has a core 2 quad and is daily driving win 11 23h2 with an SSD its actually a pretty decent experience

Windows keeps getting more terrible every day. It only drives people to try other operating systems. I have switched over to Linux and very rarely even look at windows anymore.

My PC has an AMD Ryxen 7 3700x CPU with 64 gigs. It does not support 11. We also have a 7 year old PC with a I5 and 8 gigs -which does.

m$ want us to transition to w$11, but is proactively preventing us to do so... ironic.

We can't bypass anything 😢
Few months later: now we can bypass 😎
Microsoft: 🤯

I installed windows 11 just 2 days ago on my mid 2011 iMac 27 inch. I did the bypass from a usb install onto my computer. It booted up perfectly. I also did the updates and there was no issue. Every is smooth. I just reverted back to windows 10, because I didn’t see much difference, except that it seemed more like spyware to advertise. It felt like I was just using windows 10, but with harder ways to personalize and find things. The thing is I use both Pc and Mac 🖥. So 11 feels just as frustrating as a Mac. Also people need to know that when you install windows 11. If you do not revert back to your previous version of windows before the 10 days is up. You will have to back up all your files, downloads. Because you have to do a whole new install of windows. That is an issue. I might do a triple boot camp, and install it separately.

I downloaded CPU-Z and the instructions on mine did have the SSE4.2 and SSE4A but it still tells me my CPU is non-supported. I am running a AMD A-10-8750 Radeon 7 3.6 ghz.

One way to circumvent the missing instructions: Is possible if the cpu has an illegal instruction interrupt. You simply add code to the interrupt handler to check for the instructions that Windows 11 and then 12 uses, and add code to it, to handle the missing instructions. This is not for the faint of heart and may be done at thre uefi/bios level or the kernel level. I prefer Linux to Windows for various reasons.

My old workstation with dual Intel Xeon X5660, seems to have both "SSE4 / SSE4.1 + SSE4.2 / Streaming SIMD Extensions 4" and "POPCNT". But i'm going to upgrade sometime in the future. But I will backup/clone my c: drive just in case something goes wrong.

example: Intel i7-7700 (sse4.2, included popcnt instr.) but MS put this model to the non supported CPUs list and i don't understand why ...
