Rufus has been updated to install Windows 11 24H2 on unsupported hardware without having to jump through the hoops we had to jump through in the last video. This new version of Rufus was released in beta on the day that our last video was released. So today we are going to test it and see how it works.

Confirmed, "Remove requirement for an online Microsoft account" and "Create a local account with username" both work fine with W11 24H2. Thank goodness.

Rich, even though several videos recently came out about "installing 24H2 on unsupported HW", I use YOUR videos as the reference - they are clear, concise, and entertaining. I'm quite a fan of your "Potato" e-waste machine! Yet again, Rufus proves its value as a fantastic FOSS utility! About the Core2Duo thing... I have several e-waste Core2Duo machines (Dell Optiplex 760, E8400) around here. They were built like a tank! Been running Linux on them for years, but alas effective with Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL, Alma, Oracle, Rocky) the CPU must be x86-64-v2 which is Nehalem or newer. Soon, those Core2Duo machines will join my Celeron 300, Athlon, and others collecting dust in my garage.

Hey there dude with the epic beard, this vid is worth doing again with the following changes/adds --
- Unplug from the internet before starting the upgrade
- Check all them boxes especially the killing of auto bitlocking and stopping all those questions
- After the upgrade, reboot, STAY OFF the internet, change all the privacy options/settings as you find prudent
- Get on the internet, do a Windows Update, reboot and behold --- Glory!

Massive thanks for putting this out there, saves a mountain of e-waste, most certainly.
Found this channel as a YT recommend, love the video, love the channel, subscribed!

I can confirm that overriding the Microsoft Account option, Local Account Creation, Regional Settings, Telemetry option and Disable Bitlocker all works.

I used your method to upgrade to 23H2 on two Win10 computers this morning. Although both failed Health Check, they both updated withOUT warnings. Thank You!

Thank you. This method worked like a charm on my 10 year old Lenovo PC, running a Pentium G3240 processor, 500 GB SSD, and 16 GB RAM. The whole process took around 90 minutes or so, and everything runs flawlessly. Thanks again.

Actually there's a hidden key that can make a boot Windows 11 for either "BIOS or UEFI" by simply press Alt + E to change that target system. With this hidden functions applied, Windows 11 installation would able to boot BIOS or UEFI in this same USB drive. Hope you will get this helps.

Absolutly nailed it. I've just done two machines using the new Rufus 4.6 builder and before I did the second machine I checked the processor was SSE4.2. The only issue I had was I accidently tried the US version of Windows, the giveaway you have the wrond distribution is the 'kepp apps and files' is greyed out. Built a new USB with the International version and it worked fine. Thank you so much.

I'm actually using a PC I built in that exact case to watch this video. I bought it in 2006 at CompUSA when it was still a thing. Thanks for the update!

I used your guide on the last video to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Worked like a charm.

Your clip really works and now my mini pc N6000 Jasperlake is saved from being dumped as said by frustrated users. Your presentation is both fun and engaging and most of all serves the problem well. Thank you.

Hello Rich - I don't usually comment on help vids etc., BUT yours is so concise and nippy! I have a creaking Thinkpad X230 with not much on it so not much to loose. I went with your exact guidance to plant Win 11 over my Win 10 i5 3rd Gen. The bios claimed it could boot in to UEFI but Rufus opted to install using MBR - whatever, works beautifully. Many thanks.

Z Z Top is smart! His method worked beautifully, although it took me a day and a half to install on my laptop since my hard drive was slow. Afterwards I opted to upgrade to a SSD for a $100 and Bob’s your uncle. Thank you, buddy, you made my (last) weekend!

Thank you so much for this video. I able about to successfully upgrade yesterday from 21H2 to 24H2 using this method. I found this method very easy. I had avoided doing an update for a long time because all of the suggestions posted by other people involved too many steps and playing around with the Registry Editor (which I don't feel comfortable with). I think that Microsoft will give in with the restrictions on unsupported hardware when they realize that millions of people running Windows 10 will refuse to buy new hardware, even when support ends in 2025.

You are MOSTLY right about Windows 11 (version 24H2) on Core 2 Duo's. I installed 24H2 on my ThinkPad T61 which has a T9500 and that particular chip was released January of 2008. Which leads me to believe that the instruction sets Windows 11 needs were being baked into chips prior to 2008. I'm a Linux guy, but despite the T9500's age; with 8 gigs of RAM and a SSD, especially if you debloat Windows 11, it's actually respectably fast. It shines brightest on Linux of course. But don't entirely count those Core 2 Duo's out yet if you give them a fighting chance and have realistic expectations. Then again I grew up through the DOS days so everything is fast to me lol...

Many thanks for this. Used the previous method for all but one of my systems… last one wouldn’t work (until I rechecked which language I originally installed) all done now!
