**Always consult a qualified electrician**
Here's my step by step video log of installing British Gas HIVE into my Worcester Bosch boiler - particular model 30CDi
I used standard 3 core cable - available in most places. Wilko sell it by the metre.
This particular cable was from toolstation.

Thanks for video, works a treat, much appreciated. Just a reminder to all who do this, don't forget to remove link, and advise to buy new blanking plate which can be found on Ebay for around £5.

AT 3’26” I can see your RF receiver is back in the boiler, was it ok to leave that in as you stated it must be removed at the start?

did you use earth wire as a live cable?

Im wondering if this Hive thermostat will fit to my Worcester 28 CDi combi boiler, as its quite an old model (1999). Anybody knows?

You need to be a qualified GAS engineer to do this, not an electrician, and it is certainly not a DIY job. In the UK, that is actually law, nor just industry code of practice or advice.

2 things were not shown on this video. 1) There are mandatory gas safety checks to be done after having disturbed the sealed case. 2) The manufacturer recommends upgrading the original electrodes on these boilers when work is carried out. This is because the original part shown in this video, with the viewing window, often fails, allowing hot products of combustion to be forced into the air box. This invariably changes the combustion, often enough to make the appliance unsafe. That's not to say every one of these old electrode sets do this but enough did that Worcester redesigned them and Issued a bulletin advising they be upgraded.

Perhaps these two things were done off camera, but the video should be much clearer. This work should only ever be done by a qualified GAS engineer.
