Thx for the video. I just got a 50s Standard faded and love it. Your video helped me decide on the 50s.

I think I've recorded the BEST Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s VS 60s video!
Check this out! CAN YOU HEAR THE DIFFERENCE?
There's a SURPRISINGLY BIG TONE DIFFERENCE between these guitars! I've done my best to set the guitars up on the same way with the same strings, same pickup heights...I've done everything to show you guys a genuine TONE COMPARISON and help you to make your decision when you want to buy a Les Paul Standard! Yeah, I hears the difference. Stunning, actually. I'm trying to decide between these two, and most videos I watch do not do a very good job of demonstrating the differences between these two guitars, You did!

I own a 60's however that 50's sounds very warm. I love it

Good review man. I think the 50s is better suited for the clean jazz type stuff. The 60s is better for an overdriven sound. I just bought a 60s LP Standard yesterday. The sound is better for me personally and I liked the 60s neck better. Neck isn’t that thin, more like a deep C than a slim taper.

50’s all the way for me slows me down 👍 (neck shape, and I favour the pickups a little more on the 50’s )The 60’s sounds a tad hotter driving the amp a little harder . The 50’s a bit closer to that Tele on steroids vibe … (which I favour more) both are wonderful though and I’d happily live with a 60’s version !

Very good comparison. Both guitars sound good, but I think I prefer the smoother, fatter sound of the fifties model. It would be really interesting to compare the fifties to a traditional with classic 57 pickups. That’s the one I have.

I usually do not comment on videos, but the way you talk is worth it. Your language is awesome😂 and the way you describe the guitars give someone a really good idea of what's it like to play them. Really nice video.

50's is creamier where the 60's sounds brighter. I like the 50's better but I like the unburst finish more which is a 60's, so I bought both haha! Love a chunky neck so much more!

Thin neck and bright tone work for me - that's why I have an SG.

I like the 50s feel and the 60s sound.

Nice video. Maybe slight preference for the fifties but really it’s splitting hairs - both are awesome.

The 50's sounded much fuller than the 60' If I was buying one. I would get the 50's!

It has always been said "a good Les Paul should sound like a tele on steroids" and in that case the 60's all the way!
of the two the 60's was much more tele like overall. I bought a 60's for that reason as well as the finish Iced tea(which is only on the 60's)
with a AAA insanely flamed top the slimmer neck shape.

I own two 50s standards and two 60s standards. I always struggle which ones I like best, so I guess that's why I own two of each and considering a third being I would only need an unburst to fill out my bust collection. I wish the 50's came in an unburst. The 60's does sound more full to me, but in a band/live situation the 50's will cut more IMHO and fit the mix just a bit better. I also prefer the thick neck on the 50s. Cheers and great comparison and review.
