Interesting how you played the strat with more attack…makes it hard to judge. Gibson sounder sweeter coz of it.

Fender is made to play that style. It’s about the style of music played. You should buy both & add to your collection.

Single coils will always sound better clean. Crank the gain and see which sounds better.

Time to roll the windows down and blast this song that I forgot existed

Not a fair comparison. Both sound great but clean echoey chords? A fender is built for that. Gibsons do better with higher gain since they essentially all come standard with humbuckers for higher output. Both great but id use them for different tones for sure

Should have also played the Gibson with the single coil splitter on the neck pickup as well. That's one big advantage Gibson has; you can actually split their humbuckers into single coils for a similar "Strat-like" sound. Of course, an actual Fender is going to sound richer and better, but Gibson CAN approximate single coil clarity while also delivering the thick humbucker fullness.

Apples to Oranges comparison. I say both sound amazing in their class.

Depends on mood. For both the playing and the listening for me. Sometimes I’m not down for the sparkle of a strat and want the warmth of a good paf. And visa versa.

See..fender is better for your country, blues, cleaner sounds, and in a few cases even soloing. But Gibson is better for power. The humbucker is almost always my top choice., but the neck pickup on a strat, man, you can't get that sound anywhere else. And as far as playability, a maple neck and fretboard is so much smoother and easier on the fingers .

For that particular riff. The chime is in the Stratocaster. But. I'm so many others. The Les Paul gives tone you have trouble getting with a Stratocaster. So. Get both... And get an Ibanez RGT42FMDX while you're at it

The only real answer is what the players personal preference is lol. Strats are better for blues and rock. Les Pauls are typically better for Hard Rock and some styles of metal. Not saying you have to use either of those guitars for just those genres. But that’s how I think of the difference between a strat and a les paul

I’ve never owned a strat. It’s always been a Les Paul for me. I do love the sound of both.

For that riff the fender is better to my ears. Brighter and more bell like.

The Gibson is fuller and slightly darker.
