tried em all, Imo the TRIBUTE is the best playing, I dunno but there's something about the neck and the finish that makes you practice for hours

i agree with you on the Tribute. I bought one as an impulse buy about 6 months ago...and the thing is freaking incredible. As you said, the reduced weight alone makes the thing a wonderful guitar. I do not care that it has a maple neck and doesn't have binding. The thing feels, plays and sounds like it is supposed to. The thing is absolutely great. On top of that, they are readily available in lefthanded, , ...so it is wonderful for me and my fellow lefties.

Proper (authentic😊) Gibson LP standards do look stunning in the flesh, but for me the less fussy styling of the Tribute probably appeals to me more, somthing so rock and roll and kinda cool about no binding or gloss coat!

I actually liked the classic tone the best, very versatile. Love the demo. Do it again and include the lp standard 60.

The classic has the best feeling neck to me. Also the weight balance is perfect when sitting.

I have the Standard in Heritage Cherry, you need to play it with a strap even sitting down so the headstock doesnt hit you in the head. Love the guitar.

I just bought a 2011 Classic 1960. I like the slimmer 60s profile neck. For the $ its tough to beat. I have a 2009 R9 Burst VOS Murphy aged, but I dont play it much. The push/pull with the classic makes it so nice to just plug n play-no effects needed. But I do run them through the Okko Diablo sometimes.

IMHO, the LP Tribute is the best value that the "Guitar World" currently has to offer. It has the pedigree and essentially the same bones as its far-more-expensive big brothers (the mahogany body, rosewood fretboard, great sounding Gibson USA humbuckers, nitrocellulose, albeit "satin, " finish, and let us not forget the maple cap). I just purchased a new one in the Honeyburst, and i absolutely love it. The beauty is understated, but glorious, the playability fantastic, and the tone is a dream. I believe the maple neck is a distinctive feature that adds a very pleasing brightness and clarity to the overall tone.

Hi Tom, I'm weighing between the LP Standard and the LP TRibute. I dont mind about the cosmetics. But in your opinion, in terms of sound and sustain, do they make a lot of difference?

For me the best buy for new Gibson is 'Tribute'.. However, I managed to get used 2019 LP standard 50s cherry sunburst for 1150 pounds.

I have both 50 Standard and Classic 🤘 The 9 hole weight relief is still heavy while the Standard is crazy heavy lol. Love the Standard tho my go to Lester is The Classic, the playability, tone, then the push pull in phase or split gives that P90 sound! Also to note I have the Cherry Classic and Tobacco Burst Standard, if I'm going to spend $ on Gibson's I want the binding, sorry tribute.

You have to at least address some substantial differences like the Tribute having 490 R and T pups with circuit board electronics. Just that alone is a big difference from handwired Burstbuckers. You know...things like that. PS: You're the only person in all of history who has ever called the 1950s Les Paul neck "sleek." It's a tree trunk. HAHA! :)
