Chances of normal delivery if baby's head is not fixed in 37th week of pregnancy? -Dr. Shefali Tyagi

Baby’s head is not engaged by 37 weeks and you are worried. So basically what engagement mean is there is a bony pelvis and the baby’s head has to drop or fix into it. So that makes it kind of more likely for you to have a normal delivery. but in case your baby; head is not engaged by 37 weeks, it also depends on which pregnancy it is .In first pregnancy it is more important for the head to get engaged. In second pregnancy it is not necessary for the head to get engaged at 37 weeks because with the labor pains, the head can come down. But if it is your first pregnancy, and the head is not engaged, we can till wait and watch. It is not necessary that by 37th week, all pregnant ladies the head has to be engaged. With time the engagement can happen at the end of 38th or 39thh week. So until and unless there is another condition which warrants you to have early delivery, we can wait upto your due date, whenever you go into labour or occasionally when you are postdated also. As far as what you can do, it is not in your hands, generally be active, continue to do exercises what have been taught in the antenatal classes, but apart from that not much can be done because this is an internal process and the bay and the body decides how this will be done.

Actually my LMP is july 4th and now mines is 39 weeks.. Today march 27th i have gone to doctor to know the position n to get clarification regarding delivery date..

Doctor said baby head is floating so normal delivery find's difficulty and suggest us to wait for 1more week...

Could you pls confirm whether normal delivery is possible or not..
