Sonarworks Reference took my mixes to a whole different level, especially in them being translatable from device to device. Awesome bundle of software!!

I got the Reference 4 system with mic, for a couple of months, and use it for all my mixes. Right from the start i set the change to 100% it was instantly cleared from standing waves or other acoustic distractions. I have a very bad treated room (done 5 years ago) with foam, behind pressed plates, and acoustics absorption. So this room is pretty dead. And has trouble with lots of build up bass resonance and very bad high end, because of the foam.. This system, tackles this issues and gives me a fair mix, right from the start. I've just finished a assignment for my audio engineering college. During the mastering process in a studio, there was nothing that needed correction frequency wise! It was a tight mix! It's a essential investment for (poorly) treated rooms for sure!

Iv been using it with my sen HD650’s for 6 months, wish I had this years ago helps me hear things in a better way to make proper mixing decisions, it works can’t live without it now, my mixes sound so much better !

I have some expensive Headphones. I bought the headphone version and man, it is a night and day difference. I'd recommend it. I recently did a mix for someone and it translates very well on other systems. You never have to second guess yourself again.

One potential danger I see with Sonarworks Reference – as much as I like and use it – is that it might steer some people away from using reference tracks/mixes when producing, thinking that their listening environment now is calibrated and flat enough to take proper mixing decisions each and every time. Reference is stellar, but you will always need reference tracks in your back pocket.

Hi Dave, can you explain how you adjust 1k in the profile? I don’t see that option in Reference. Maybe I misunderstood your comment. Reference made a significant difference for my monitors/room.

I know there can be a lot of hype in comments, but honestly, this is absolutely worth the investment if you're taking mixing seriously. Even just to listen to some of my favorite records as a consumer - damn. I hear things I never heard before, and I'm in a very nice, extremely well-treated mix environment.

Hey Dave, nice too see. Sonarworks do both cuts and boost as it looks? Doesn't that introduce a lot of phase issues? Or is this managed completely by that linear phase mode?

You suggested that you could tweak the correction curve.
But Sonarworks says:

"Can I tweak the correction curves further to my liking?
No, you can't tweak the correction beyond the boost/tilt/predefined controls."

Though... should headphones be calibrated to flat-frequency response?

Hey Dave, what about measuring the yamaha NS 10 with sonar works?

wouldn't the preamp need to be corrected as well. i know its probably not a huge deal but if you going through the extra trouble with the mic calibration you might as well do at least a rough calibration for the most used interface preamps ex. apollo, focusrite, presonus, and so on.

Like maybe a dumb question, after you mixed it, do you delete/turn off the plugin after mixing the song to bounce it? Cuz otherwise it applies the eq to the song, or am I wrong?

Hi, can I use the Behringer ECM8000 microphone to calibrate with this software or can it only be done with the sonarworks microphone?

I use the headphone app but am looking into room app as well, maybe next time on sale
Anyone have experience with both? Is room considerably better? Using ATH m50xs

This is really good if they worked with UAD to do a real-time near zero latency version I would buy it today

To all the people saying that it helped you make better mixes:
How do you know that it's helping you get better mixes?
Clearly you can only know if you play your Sonarworks mix in a perfect flat room to see that you managed to mix it correctly?
How do you know it's making the mix better?
