After the overwhelming success of the Persona 3 Reload video I made ranking all of the party members in battle from worst to best, it's clear you all want to see some more of that kind of content from me, and I'm more than happy to deliver. I've beaten Golden upwards of 10 times at this point, and after playing it so many times, I feel comfortable sharing my list of the party ranked from worst to best. I hope you enjoy!

Persona 4, released outside Japan as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, is a 2008 role-playing video game by Atlus. It is chronologically the fifth installment in the Persona series, itself a part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise, and was released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan in July 2008, North America in December 2008, and in Europe and Australia in March 2009 as one of the final major exclusives for the system. It was re-released as a PlayStation 2 Classic for the PlayStation 3 in April 2014. Persona 4 takes place in a fictional Japanese countryside and is indirectly related to earlier Persona games. The player-named protagonist is a high-school student who moved into the countryside from the city for a year. During his year-long stay, he becomes involved in investigating mysterious murders with a group of friends while harnessing the power to summon physical manifestations of their psyches known as a Persona.

The plot of Persona 4 was inspired by the work of mystery novelists owing to its murder mystery premise. The rural setting was based on a town on the outskirts of Mount Fuji and intended as a "'nowhere' place" and is the central setting to have players sympathize with the daily life of the characters. The developers added many in-game events to prevent the game from becoming stale. During localization, numerous alterations to Japanese cultural references were made to preserve the effect as much as possible. The release of Persona 4 in Japan was accompanied by merchandise such as character costumes and accessories. The game's music was primarily composed by Shoji Meguro, with vocals performed by Shihoko Hirata. The North American and European releases came with a soundtrack CD with selected music from the game."

Naoto is kinda like the persona version of the Dallas Cowboys. She does well against shitty regular shadows, but when the stakes are high during the boss battles she folds 😂

I support your list. Yukiko is completely busted in all ways.

i'll give some justice to Yosuke, cuz dude clutched so many times in mine and my friend's playthrough. Dekaja alone is very useful and very low cost, considering how high is the SP cost for debuffs, he does respectable damage and Youthful Winds is a great setup starter for when you wanna use the protagonist mainly as a damage dealer, debuffer, or in case you didn't brought Chie. i say he's more jack of all trades than Naoto is.

My favorite team to use is Chie (the bae), Yukiko (the side piece), & Kanji (the bromie) I call them Team "Nah, I'd win."

While naoto and teddie might not have the offensive capabilities of the others, teddie’s buffs + shield of justice were godsends during my very hard izanagi only run (I was going into the final boss at level 69)

Naoto was my ace in the game's bonus dungeon (Hollow Forest). I built her as follows: Mind Charge, Megidolaon, Vorpal Blade, Heat Riser, Shield of Justice, and Invigorate 1-3. I also gave her the Chakra Ring so with that set up, she never runs out of SP.

So I see you play with the amagidyne mod, you are truly a based individual

This is my list with counting Yu and Rise:
1. Yukiko My favorite P4 Waifu: The strongest magic attacker and healer in the game, Burning Petals is a very strong fire attack, she can learn all the support skills in the game and she's the most underrated P4 Waifu.💖💖💖💖🌸🌸🌸🌸
2. Naoto: Megidolaon and Heat Riser are very useful and Shield of Justice can save you from a lethal attack.
3. Chie: Very strong physical skills, Dragon Hustle is the best unique skill in the game and good ice attacks.
4. Yosuke: He makes good damage, I think Youthful Wind is a good skill, it heals all the party and increase evasion and accuracy at the same time, it also has good physical and wind skills.
5. Kanji: His unique skill is not very useful, it only has chance to knock down or daze all the enemies, but it doesn't make damage and it's useless against bosses, his attacks make good damage, but only hits one target.
6. Teddie: I hate him as a character, but it has good ice attacks and support skills, but with Yukiko on the team you're not going to use him.

After awhile I just go solo because all I need is Rise, the quintessential Best Girl in Persona.

Finally, yukiko gets the recognition she deserves

Just finished my second P4G playthrough. I had a feeling Yosuke would be low on the list but I still can't help using him because he has the best battle voice lines and animations. Also when do you think you'll be doing the Shinji video?

My endgame team was Naoto, Teddie and Yukiko

You're severely underestimating Teddie

No need to base his viability on his shitty ultimate Persona skill, his support is unparalleled (Matarukaja and Marakukaja on a single character is silly). You overrate the 3rd tier skills in general since they come extremely late as well and are useful for a short period of time. In terms of game wide performance, Teddie is really good.

The best team is Yukiko / Teddie / Kanji

Chie's not the best. She's pretty good, but her magic offense is horrendous (sure she gets Bufudyne, but no boost skills unlike Kanji so they hit like paper), she spends a large portion of the game lacking good phys skills in the midgame, and Kanji gets Power Charge in Golden, completely outclassing her damage (since Primal Force has significantly higher base power than God Hand)

I just like having Yosuke since he is a bro. If any of my characters get knocked down, he helps them up. If any of them get scared, he knocks some sense into them. None of my other party members really did that aside from Kanji every now and then. I like to play with the AI, and for me, Yosuke would always finish off any enemy Yu couldn't. He really was like a friend in that way, he always had your back, and that's why I could never take him off my team.

Naoto's coverage is the best from my experience. She is supposed to be an all rounder. However, if you equip her with an +4 Agility ring, she is very likely to go first followed by you or vice versa. This makes downing, grinding and farming easier. Plus, once you unlock Rise's Relaxing Wave, running out of SP easily stops being an issue.

Teddie should be higher imo, the protag as a given does more damage than chie and kanji, and him having marakunda AND matarukaja allows him to raise his damage a ton. as for kamui miracle, just don't use it and you got access to great healing, great damage support, and decent ice damage

It's funny cause litterly my only playthrough of the game was my no attacking run, and the only useful party members were chie, naoto and teddie because of repeling, repeling, and healing

Like you said, No party member is bad. You can enjoy a run with every combo of every character, but he's the absolute definition of good at all master of none. Heals? Teddie & Yukiko. Damage? Chie/Kanji & Yukiko. Coverage? Naoto / Protag. Though not much could compare to P4G Yukiko.

I really enjoyed your list. I absolutely agree with you with Yukiko. Not only is she the best support with skills like Divine Grace to boost her healing until you get the full heal skills, but she also absolutely nukes most fights with her fire skills. As much as I try to vary up my party to try out different synergies, if there was a big fight coming up, you know that Yukiko was always a lock for a slot.
