Modular Workbench & Mobile Tool Stand Build (Ep.1)

Показать описание
This is my latest project, a modular workbench with great storage capacity that can also be used as a mobile tool stand. It's built using the same system as the woodworking bench I made, but this one is smaller, about 1m long and 60cm deep.

Where to obtain materials and tools that I use:

The irony of using a workbench to build a workbench. 😄 Nicely done!

I've adapted this into single units. Instead of having two cabinet boxes and a wide frame, I do a slimmer frame and just one box for a bank of drawers. I put them all around the perimeter of my shop and just put a continuous top down them. For a miter saw, I simply connected the top to the sides to provide a lower platform and its amazing. I don't make mine quite as deep (deep enough for a couple systainers and a few drawers. My workshop looks awesome thanks to your design. I even went so far as to paint the "legs" in festool dark blue, the cabinet insides and drawer fronts in festool gray, and the draw pulls are painted in festool green. It looks like I have a festool super shop. Best money I ever spent getting the plans for this design. Thank you Paoson!

This modular design has a lot of practical use in ways not considered. My wife is a habitual sewer, and between her need for storage, a place for cutting cloth, ironing as she goes etc, these boxes would be ideal. Work heights would need to be adjusted of course, but there is a real need... and of course when spending $ on themselves, spending money on cabinetry like this is a no brainer. Happy wife, happy life.

I've been playing about with designs for a new bench, with ideas ranging from flip top parts for tools, MFT style holes, drawers etc ... and then I finally came up with the idea of making multiple smaller benches which could be joined together in various ways to suit the application.

Then I find your video of exactly what I've been playing about with ... you beat me to it by a good few years.

Interesting, I've designed my drawers exactly the same way as you have, including the sliding mechanism ... however I'll be using laminate for the base of my drawers which will provide a smooth sliding action.

I like the method building the frame, simple, easy and immensely strong, with the advantage of using material which is all the same thickness and type ... my design uses a mixture of ply and pine ... I like your method better!

Many thanks for sharing :)

My partner sent me your TikTok video and I have NEVER gone on such a subscribe hunt in all my life! You are impressive and your plans are game changing. I needed to tell you this and now I must get back to your site to order plans. 😂

I absolutely love the modular benches and the table saw/router bench. They are incredibly well built. I’m just starting out and will first make something more basic with the ultimate goal of making some of you beautiful pieces.

I am building a workbench. It will not be like yours, but I congratulate you on the thoughful consideration you have given to every aspect of your design - not to mention the simple precision of your bench's construction. Well done and thank you!

Very nice work. Nice to see it being done without a shop full of very expensive tools.

I love this way you made the frame from strips of ply... I'm looking forward to the continuation of this build.

I believe that I will change my plans for building a workbench after watching your video. Very impressive. And those clamps are quite nice.

So...where to begin.
First of all, thank you for making the video - it is obvious it took a lot of work.

Very useful design - like the shots showing how it works, and how you leverage your existing workbench.
Amazing quality in the build and workmanship. really impressive - great attention to detail.
Great production quality in the video - just enough to give us an idea on your process and steps, but not long winded or overly drawn out on unnecessary scenes.

thanks for sharing.

Extremely well designed and well thought out. Of all the bench builds out there, I like yours the best. All of your designs and executions are outstanding.
