In a remarkable display of humility he argued that the panel lacks the qualification to decide on such awards.

He didn’t accept because:
1) it took them like 6 years to award it to him, he was frustrated/annoyed.
2) he (rightfully) believed that Richard Hamilton deserved half the credit.

Perelman is so genius that lives in his own mind.

I don t know if it is true but one journalist said he phoned Perelman and tried to ask him about all that situation, but Grigory said he is busy and is gowing for mushrooms picking now.

No one can give another glory except ones ownself. He does not need prizes or awards for the exaltation which those who give the award would not create or equal.

The way I respect someone who sees how big the picture actually is but doesn’t try to capitalize on it ❤

He didn’t take $1 000 000 prize, because of Hamilton’s prompt how to solve the problem.

It wasn't humble, he declared he discovered how to control the universe, why would he go after that prize. A great example of megalomania and narcissism lol. I suspect that in order to claim the prize, judging by the way he phrased it, requires some sort of display of that knowledge and I have wondered if he did not pick up former mathematical research from less known colleagues and took it as his. It wouldn't be a first. Even Einstein became known for a theory he did not develop but rather worked on and made famous for its impact in society. On the study itself, I find the research interesting when applied to black holes. If you think about it, this formula could very well apply to universe principles, from black holes to theoretical wormholes. Now that's genius

he wasn’t just humble, he knew what they’d do to a genius, after what they did to Einstein’s brain after his death

I don't understand why he left everything? Did he found something in that process 🤔

Why do people talk about him like he's dead?

Count Dankula’s video on this guy is pretty in depth

He solved something no other human can so why would he accept some artificial awards from others.

That achievement itself is an award that no other recognition can supersede.

In the world that is so deeply entangled in narcissistic and materialistic point of view no wonder that he is labeled as an outcast and a weirdo.
He knows what is the truth and therefore feels free!
