The 480 was nvidia's 1st TOP OF THE LINE fermi chip.
The 550 Ti was actually meant to replace the GTS 450, and seems to also be the end of the "GTS" moniker.

GTS 450 = 192 Cuda,
GTX 550 Ti = 192 Cuda
GTX 480 = 480 Cuda

Nvidia only updated the Mid-to-highend cards like the
560 Ti 448, and 570/580 models up from the original 4X series.

@CheateRsz no. when i move my head like they do in the program my hear doesnt respond that weirdly. i never saw people whose hair behaves like that. well it looks cool the hair looks realistic but the physics arent

@YamiNogun No it won't, considering by the time The Sims 4 is made, Fermi architecture cards won't be mainstream, they'll still be up there.

Only problem: Hardly playable framerates with just one of those heads on screen. In actual games there are usually atleast 2 people on screen so if both had this kind of hair it would already be unplayable and if you want a crowd of people in your game you have to give them all hats. This won't be in any game until next-gen or even later.

@angeriod It's safe to say any technology (pertaining to computers at least) will be out-dated in 6 months. There will constantly be new things emerging from the geek labs :P

and how much of your clock time is that eating up? Are you go to be able to render 20-30 of these on top of a tessellated scene with post processing?

It depends on what you'll be using it for. At the moment ATI doesn't have anything like CUDA or PhysX.

And we're not sure if ATI will have their own version of CUDA. It might be a NVidia thing.

Currently some programs need CUDA to run, like OpenCL, which is a GPU rendering enhancer for things like animation instead of games.

So, yeah, I need CUDA for now.

@mathias921 I personally think that NVidia's graphics cards look 10 times better than ATI, even though that doesn't really matter, haha.

But at the moment, ATI does seem to be winning as far as performance and price goes. As far as features, NVidia has things like CUDA that are reserved for their own cards.

So it's a choice between price or features at the moment.

Please feel free to correct me.

And the looks of the graphics cards is an opinion, so you can't argue about that.
